As Leland College is ficticious, there is no real way to place it. But it may be located 50 miles east of Columbus. Columbus to Lancaster is 400 miles; Leland to Lancaster is 350 miles.

Ellen leaves for Lancaster on a train evidently local to Columbus. The Columbus train station was torn down in 1979, six years before the episode aired. The nearest operating train station is Cincinnati, 100 miles away.

There is no Leland College in Ohio. But we learn from Episode #74 The Real Thing that the setting of Leland College is about 50 miles from Columbus.

In the episode before this, Jennifer says she resented it when Elyse went back to work and wasn't spending as much time at home. However in this episode, Elyse was just interviewing at a job and went back to work. These episodes appear to have aired out of order.

When Alex is at the ERA meeting, a tomato is thrown at him and hits his shirt, leaving a spot. When he is in jail, there is no spot from the tomato on his shirt.
