Mr. Roarke introduces Cornelius Wieselfarber a locksmith and Boy Scout leader from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Helen Philips, a Librarian at Vassar College from Poughkeepsie, New York.
Cornelius: Wow this is unbelievable, it's almost an exact replica of a World War I officers club. Mr. Roarke: Yes in fact it's very like the headquarters of the famed group of American pilots who came over on their own to fight alongside the French. Cornelius: The L'Aviation Escadrilles. Mr. Roarke: Precisely. Cornelius: You amaze me Mr. Roarke, they were the greatest heroes of the War. They had such fantastic style and elan. Mr. Roarke: Elan. Cornelius: Oh they had that too huh, that's great. Will they be part of my fantasy too, Mr. Roarke? Mr. Roarke: Perhaps.....I had hoped to offer a toast to your adventure Mr. Weaselfarber. Cornelius: Ah Wieselfarber. Mr. Roarke: Wieselfarber, ah but the liquor cabinet seems to be locked. Cornelius: Ah well a lock has not been invented that can keep this locksmith out!
The plane that Cornelius flies is an actual S.E.5 fighter biplane built at the Royal Aircraft Factory used during World War I.
Allusion to the Mary Shelley character from her novel Frankenstein. Tattoo: Good Morning Boss. Mr. Roarke: Good Morning Tattoo. Tattoo: Don't you see anything different about me. Mr. Roarke: Oh, now that you mention it, yes I have a feeling you are imitating the Frankenstein monster, though I am at a complete loss as to why. Tattoo: Well it's to scare off the people who pick on me because of my size. Mr. Roarke: Well with all due respect may I suggest that you imitate the Frankenstein monster at some other time. Meet me at the plane to welcome our guests or have you forgotten that.
