Far From the Maddening Crowd aired in 1998 as a movie made for
television. The UK-based movie was based on a book written by Philomena
McDonagh and later adapted into a screenplay by Thomas Hardy. The show
stars Bathsheba Everdene as young woman who has taken charge of her
uncles' farm. Her extreme beauty, personality and wealth has caused
three gentlemen to fall in love with her. The men compete with one
another throughout the film to win Bathsheba's hand in marriage.
