Episode Summary

With Moya immobilized in Tormented Space, Crichton, Aeryn, Chiana, D'Argo and Sikozu seek temporary respite on a planet inhabited by historically warring clans who are now experiencing a fragile peace. The crew's arrival coincides with preparations for the election of a new ruler, or 'Prefect'. Incumbent Prefect Falaak is at the end of his half cycle in power, and reluctant to concede it. Popular clan leader Gashaah looks the likely successor, but faces a strong challenge from the Chieftan of the Jabuka Clan.
''
''Aeryn begins experiencing strange hallucinations, then without warning opens fire upon a meeting of the clans; when it is over, Gaashah lies amongst the dead, D'Argo wounded. She escapes during the confusion, leaving her crewmates under suspicion.moreless

This episode really was the wrost so far n season 4. Most of the episodes this season have been fantastic. I thought that this episode started well but went down hill from there. Also at the beginning it is a little hard to work out what is going on. So in this episode Aeryn begins to suspect Crichton is upto something when he is so distant from her. This season so far has been pretty good. This episode wasn't too bad. It was a filler really. The Chiana bit was good but other than that the story kind of run out. Looknig forward to the next episode.moreless

Moya's crew visits a planet where several clans struggle for power and a new leader is about to be elected to hopefully bring peace.
Aeryn is manipulated and kills a dozen people including the candidate! John and Aeryn then try to find out what happened! Very soon they discover that an assassin is controlling them with bugs!
Some interesting scenes between John and Aeryn, but nothing more.
This episode was dull and not very entertaining. The assassin with bugs coming out of his head was unoriginal. The only interesting thing to see was Sikozu and her 'boyfriend'. I always thought of her as very reserved, and there she is making out with someone. Didn't expect that.

    ADD TRIVIA
    • Nitpick: E'Alet tells Crichton that off-worlders puzzle him, but he's an off-worlder himself! Edit
    • There are no insects naturally occurring on this planet. This seems very unusual, since insects are important in the life cycle of Earth, including pollination of plants. Edit
    • Moya was hit hard traveling through Tormented Space, and had to be shut down for rest. Edit
  • Notes

    ADD NOTES
    • The outdoors locations used for this episode had recently been burnt in a bad fire, which gave the episode's setting a unique look. Edit
    • Wayne Pygram, Melissa Jaffer and Lani Tupu are credited but do not take part in this episode. Edit
    • The Dome set seen in the Prefect's tower was also used in "What Was Lost" as Grayza's chamber and "John Quixiote" for D'Argo's Witch scene. Edit

    • Chiana: Seriously - that's the longest this blindness has ever lasted. Paroos: Then stop using the vision, twizzet. Chiana: I'm sure you'll be the first to miss me, next palace coup. Paroos: Should've let the bugs eat your hide. Edit
    • Aeryn: (compelled by the insect bites to kill each other) I'm not sure... I have the strength to miss next time. John: I think... I'm just a bad shot. Edit
    • Chiana: (to Paroos) So is it true what they say about priests? They give a good, religious experience? Edit
  • Allusions

    ADD ALLUSIONS
    • Title: The episode's title, "A Prefect Murder", is a nod to the 1998 movie A Perfect Murder which starred Michael Douglas, Gwyneth Paltrow and Viggo Mortensen. This was itself a remake of the Alfred Hitchcock film Dial M For Murder, which was made in 1954. Edit
    • Father Ted: The look and design of Paroos the Priest was deliberately based on Father Jack from the 1990s comedy series Father Ted, which was about a group of Irish Priests. Edit
