  • Life and death

A wonderful way to begin the third season, but also falls to the depressing and very sad ep.

The episode begins with Crichton and Scorpy, he tells Crichton that the only way to get rid of the Scorpy in his head is to die. When Zhaan tries to do unity with him she finds that he wants to die and she wants to help him but Stark and D’Argo stop her from harming him.

Meanwhile Scorpius possess the ugly man and tries to make him get rid of everyone but it doesn’t really work. The ugly man then gets killed by an escaped Scarron that also killed the doc.

When John is able to defeat the Scorpy in his mind because it’s only a shadow and doesn’t have power anymore. He’s attacked by the Scarron and tries to flee with D’Argo.

Meanwhile Zhaan and Stark are together and she wants to bring back Aeryn because it’s possible, she uses Stark to get to Aeryn and then shares unity to bring her out of it. Aeryn comes back and then goes to save Crichton and D’Argo, with the blade she kills the Scarron and reunites with John, that entire reuniting was very sad but beautiful. John couldn’t believe it was her but when he found out he hugged her.

When Scorpius tries to escape his ship gets blown up but it was just a scam, Scorpy didn’t leave the planet and he’s not dead like everyone thinks he is.

When Crichton wants to kiss Aeryn she tells him that she doesn’t want it because it might cost the life of someone else, Zhaan is dying because she gave everything to reunite with Aeryn and now she is going to die.

The episode was so sad for Zhaan, she is a character that didn’t deserve to die.

There was also something between Jothee and Chiana, I liked them as a couple but hardly as characters, I don’t understand how they could betray D’Argo.

The episode was great, the beginning of the end for the wonderful Zhaan.

  • oh the surprises in this episode never end.

We find out that many of the things that we learned last season aren't really true.

The doctor is killed before he has the chance to fix John's brain, Scorpius gets the Wormhole knowlage. Aeryn is dead, John wants to die, everyone is trying to get over Aeryn's dead and save John, Scorpius manages to go around undetected.

When everything seems to be very bad hope arrives: Zhaan decides to sacrifice herself so that Aeryn can live. Aeryn saves John and Dargo.

Another plot twist is the relationship that Chiana and Dargo's son have. This promises much pain yet to come.

Aeryn and John admite to one and other that they love each other but Aeryn says that she will not act on those feelings because she doesn't want to sacrifice any other life for hers.

Romance, pain and much drama in this great season opener.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (8)

    • Audio/Visual Mismatch: When Crichton and D'Argo are outside in the cold, Crichton says "Sounds like you got a plan" but his lips don't move.

    • Nitpick: D'Argo tells John that he hates cold, and doesn't want to brave it at first to escape the Scarran chasing them. But D'Argo has survived several spacewalks without the benefit of protective gear- it's doubtful the planet's surface could be colder than space!

    • Scorpius now has a mind control device, that allows him to force a host body to do exactly what he wants, and the host can even still be alive.

    • Since they never get to see each other during this episode, Crais doesn't get to reveal to Aeryn what is on his chip (from "Die Me, Dichotomy").

    • Jothee and Chiana apparently got it on, so to speak, in the food room.

    • The Scarrans are after Scorpius, and will clearly go to great lengths to get him. Plonek, the Scarran in this episode, has been waiting in a cryogenic pod for Scorpius to return, just because he knew that this was where his cooling system was installed and he figured he'd return eventually. Additionally, the Scarran also knows about Scorpius' obsession with John Crichton, which means that he could only have been in the pod for about a cycle, maximum, unless there was some means of updating his mission briefings even while in stasis.

    • It's interesting that Aeryn managed to fire D'Argo's Qalta Blade numerous times before it ran out of charge, considering the last time we saw it was in "Plan B" when D'Argo was using it, and its charge ran out then.

    • Zhaan manages to bring Aeryn back from a state very close to death through Unity with Aeryn and the use of Stark's powers, in time honored sci-fi tradition, but in a surprising twist she must give of herself, so is now dying.

  • QUOTES (5)

    • Scorpius: Crais! Cease this pursuit at once!
Crais: This pursuit will end in your death, Scorpius.
Scorpius: Aboard this Marauder is information that will help us defeat the Scarrans. You may have foresworn the Peacekeepers, but before you act, consider your fellow Sebaceans.
Crais: You consider one Sebacean who died at your hands- Officer Aeryn Sun!

    • D'Argo: (to the Diagnosan waiting to operate on Crichton) Go ahead.
: (still unable to speak, but attempting to argue with D'Argo) Nzgh ughrn dhzn!
D'Argo: As for you, do not make me tongue you!

    • Crichton: (referring to the Clone Scorpius) I beat him. He was all mouth, Stark. How'd you know?
Stark: I didn't. I just thought it sounded good.

    • (In the snow storm still trying to escape from the Scarran) Crichton: Think he'll follow us?
      D'Argo: I hope he does!
Crichton: Sounds like you've got a plan.
D'Argo: We're going to bring him out here and see how he likes being in the cold.
Crichton: And what if he likes it?
D'Argo: Look, one plan at a time!

    • Crichton: C'mon Scorpy, c'mon man, show me that ugly grin.
Scorpius Clone: I'm warning you Crichton, now you stop...
Crichton: Oh no, no, no, no, no, I don't think so. Out with the old, in with the new! Can I get a Hell yeah?
      Crowd: Hell yeah!

  • NOTES (4)

    • Crichton: Can I get a Hell Yeah?

This quote is the signature line of professional wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin. The move that Crichton executed (in addition to the elbow drop) is called the "Stunner", and is the same wrestler's signature finishing move.

    • Harvey: Death is the only sensible course, John. For everything there is a season, a time to be born, and...
Crichton: A time to die, yes, yes, yes. The Devil quotes scripture.

An Old Testament biblical reference from the Book of Ecclesiastes (Chapter 3, Verses 1-8).
