- The third series was heavily cut and edited, particularly this very last episode, Going To America, which apparently contained suicide scenes.

- Dermot Morgan (Ted), Ardal O'Hanlon (Dougal), Frank Kelly (Father Jack) and Pauline McLynn (Mrs. Doyle) are the only actors to appear in every episode.

- Contrary to popular opinion, this was always intended to be the final episode of Father Ted, as the writers and the performers wanted the show to go out on a high.

- The original endng for this episode had Father Kevin standing on the balcony as before, with Ted coming out to join him. However, this was shelved in favour of clips of previous episodes

- This was the final episode of Father Ted because in February 1998, the day aftere filming of this episode completed, Dermot Morgan who played Father Ted, sadly died of a heart attack.
