The local cinema is showing a film condemned by the Church for its X-rated and blasphemous depiction of St Tibulus. Bishop Brennan is dispatched to the island to ensure that the priests take to the picket line in protest. But their defiant stand only gives more publicity to the film, which becomes an overnight success. It is left to Father Jack to stop the Bishop from sending them packing.moreless

    "Perfect"

"The Passion of Saint Tibulus" is a great episode of Father Ted. This is the first episode with Bishop Brennan in it. The bishop comes to craggy island and asks Father Ted and Dougal to protest over the showing of a blasphemous film, "The Passion of Saint Tibulus."(Mel Gibson must have seen this episode of Father Ted before making The Passion of Christ.) Anyhow, Ted and Dougal end up protesting leading to the film becoming more popular on the Island. This is an hilarious episode, many laughs come from talk of the film, and the Cuban Father at the start of the episode. Top Stuff.

    • Ted: (to Father Hernandez) He gets a kind of waxy build up in his ears. Dougal: Yeah, but it's good though, in a way, cos we never run short of candles.
