It is hosted by a different country every four years and is widely considered the most watched sport in the world. The FIFA World Cup has been held successfully since the first tournament was held way back in 1930. The only interruptions occurred in 1942 and 1946 when it was not held because of World War II. The current format involves 32 international teams competing at different venues within the host nation for about a month.
