  • Unlike the other episodes thus far, this ep is unique in the fact that it deals with a very real threat- the pressure to cheat.

The episode starts out with the teacher of a very difficult class (algebra,) learns that some of her students are inclined to steal the answers for her upcoming test. so instead of hiding the answers, she leaves them in the open, believing that her students will do the right thing in the end. That doesn't sit well with Fillmore, however, and he does an all-night stakeout that turns into an all-day chase when school is closed from a blizzard, and four kids show up to take the test's answers. Most of the other episodes of Fillmore so far have dealt with unrealistic cases such as stealing all the library's books or going after a cerial bathroom vandalizer. This deals with the very real pressure to cheat and get as good of a grade as possible, which these four kids want to do, each for their own reasons. Of course, in traditional Fillmore style, it goes about the case in a round-about and unrealistic way, but that's what makes this show so cool. In the end, the kids DO decide to do the right thing with a little nudging from Fillmore, just like the algebra teacher suggested they would. and it ends with the cutest ending line I've heard all season: "The Value of X remains constant."moreless

    • Ingrid clearly tells Fillmore that because of the snow storm, phone and electricity lines are down. As she's saying that, she's looking at her computer that can only work through electricity. Edit
    • Goof: The system of equations on Mrs. Cornwall's board has no solution: 2+x=5 x-y=16 -2x-y=-14 2x+4y=12 -2x+5y=5. If you solve the first two equations, x=3 and y=-13. These don't work in the remaining equations. Edit

Fillmore: danny, I am BEGGING you, man! (silence) O'Farrell: It's like a zen riddle. can any of us be sure we have butts... if we can never see them? (Pauses.) Hey Fillmore.
