Fish Police

Show Summary

Deep within the depths of the murky underwater metropolis, Fish City, a scaly police detective battles cold-blooded criminals in this comic tale of carps and robbers. (Based on the comic book series by Steve Moncuse.) Set in the underwater world of Fish City, this hilarious animated TV series noir follows a group of gill-bearing police as they take on organized crime. Featuring the vocal talents of Emmy and Golden Globe-winner John Ritter ("Three's Company," "Sling Blade") as no-nonsense Inspector Gill, Golden Globe and multi-Emmy-winner Ed Asner ("The Mary Tyler Moore Show") as Chief Abalone, and Emmy-winner Hector Elizondo ("Chicago Hope"), Oscar and Emmy-nominee JoBeth Williams ("The Big Chill"), Jonathan Winters ("It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World"), Robert Guillaume ("The Lion King," "Soap"), and Buddy Hackett ("The Little Mermaid").

  • "Pull over, you're glub glub glub!"

    10
This highly funny and original show ran all too briefly on CBS. It featured a wealth of voice acting talent, from Ed Asner and Megan Mullaly to John Ritter, Robert Guillaume and Jonathan Winters.

Crime is rampant in Fish City. Nefarious types have gotten their tentacles (pun intended) into every aspect of life, and law-abiding citizens are left to swim in fear.

No more! To the rescue come Inspector Gil, Chief Abalone and Detective Catfish, along with Mayor Cod, Pearl, and the other fine scaled creatures of the deep. No corner of the sea will be left a safe haven for the likes of Mussels Marinara and his ill-intentioned cronies.

Had cooler heads prevailed, this show would still be on the air. As it stands, let's be glad the tales of watery adventure are still here for us to enjoy.moreless
  • A pretty funny animated cop show.

    7.9
A pretty funny animated cop show. If this is a show that you do not normally watch and you are sitting at home with nothing to do, you are going to wish you had it on tape. Having it "on tape" had become the generic term for recorded programs. Today you are more likely to have the show on Tivo or DVR than VHS, or god forbid Beta!! It is kind of like how a lot of people still call CD's "records" or "albums." Anyway, back to the show. This is the type of show that is really pretty good if you would just give it a chance. So on those cold, lonely, rainy days, pop in your tape or DVR or whatever if you were smart enough to tape it. If not, check to see if it is on as a re-run. After all, as they say, if you have never seen it, it is new to you.moreless

I was surprised to find a lot of good actors doing the voices. Not the usual voice-work people. It was a funny show, and I hope it...
