Fist of Fun

Show Summary

Fist of Fun started life as a BBC Radio One series in 1993, written by comedians Stewart Lee and Richard Herring. After the station moved away from the half hour comedy format, the show was commissioned as a television series, which began on BBC 2 in early 1995. Fist of Fun went out at 9pm on Thursday nights and was an immediate success, if not a ratings winner. Th second series was aired in the Friday night prime time lineup of BBC 2, coming up against Channel 4's Roseanne. Although Fist Of Fun perforemed relatively well in the ratings, the show suffered from lack of preparation, a slashed budget and poor promotion. The show was not given a third series, instead Lee and Herring went on to produce This Morning With Richard Not Judy for BBC 2.
