      • The second-season ending cliffhanger (and series finale) looked like it would be a rip-off of the "Who Shot J.R.?" cliffhanger from "Dallas", which aired two years prior. However, there was one major twist. Like J.R., the whole town of Truro hated Michael Tyronne and had a motive for shooting him. And like J.R., Michael Tyronne was shot. However, unlike J.R., Michael actually died and his killer was discovered before the hour was over when Lute-Mae gladly confessed to offing him. Now for the twist: Michael, who was known to practice voodoo, was resurrected in the final scene and emerged from a burning barn, thanks to his voodoo priestess. Now that's how a cancelled series should end! If the show returned for a third season, what would have happened? Luckily for David Selby, who played Michael Tyronne, he joined the cast of "Falcon Crest" the next season in the role of Richard Channing, a character who was almost identical to Michael Tyronne (minus the voodoo, of course).
