Flamingo Road began when Dallas was at the height of its popularity and started shortly before Falcon Crest and Dynasty. Unfortunately it was far less successful than those shows. It certainly had its share of melodrama but I think the problem was that the writing was poor and the acting, despite a strong cast, was not spectacular. Many thought the show improved when David Selby came aboard in season 2, but I actually think the show was better before he came on. Noo offense to Mr. Selby who is a fine actor, I just didn't care for that character. That being said, I was still addicted to the show and was sorry to see it cancelled after a year and a half run.
