  • Like Tom Welling's Clark Kent meeting Christopher Reeve's Dr. Swann, here two generations meet in one classic Flash Gordon episode that is reminiscent of the original movies.

I enjoyed every episode thus far of Flash Gordon, each being adventurous and full of humor. Previous episode was less exciting, only to be surpassed by this joyful treat. The costumes, the scenery, the general atmosphere that surrounds Mongo. Although not enough Dale Arden, this episode sure was entertaining enough to keep watching as the tale unfolds.

And Steve Bacic's performance was another reason I enjoyed this episode. As the system lord Camulus in Stargate SG-1, he did little to impress me, but here he gets to show more of his human side.

And Sam Jones? Needless to say, inspite the role he was cast into, his presence was nice to watch.moreless

Flash, Baylin and Zarkov put on disguises so they could make it to Nascent city where they can find a rift that will take them back to Earth. Zarkov gets arrested by patriots when he tampers with the visual image of Ming. In Zarkov's prison cell, Zarkov talks to someone named Krebb to talks to him about Lawrence Gordon. This leads flash to go back to the prison to talk to Krebb. It's a good episode. Sam Jones' appearance is a real treat. I enjoyed watching this. The adventure is exciting. I can't wait for the next one. It's really good.moreless

We get to revisit the issue of Flash's father while the team is still trapped on Mongo due to the events of the previous episode. In this one we meet a man portrayed by the 80's film version of flash who claims flashes father is dead. Before this we get to see Zarkov get himself captured and more drama with the arranged marriage on Mings daughters front. An okay episode I was so mad at how dumb Zarkov was but Baylin in her slave girl dress abated my anger enough to get me through the episode. Plus with telling Flash his dad is dead we're setup to see him later which is a good thing.moreless
  • Zarkov is in prison where he finds out information about Flash' father.

    8.4
The episodes are getting better, thought there are still script issues that need to be addressed.

Zarkov is a scientist, so we have to assume he has at least some common sense. Why then does he call attention to himself by fiddling with the huge hologram of the 'benevolent father' in plain sight. It just doesn't make sense. The writer don't even attempt to explain why Baylin, Dale and Zarkov are just standing around waiting for Flash nor do they explain how Flash got back to erath. Did these monks help him through the rift, they must have.

Having said all that, this was still quite a good episode with some decent story development concerning the disappearance of Flash' dad. I particularly liked the story told by Mrs. Gordon about 'selling out'. That was very well written and acted too.moreless
