  • Great acting

By the school girl who saved the day (almost). Not quite sure why Greg was so angry afterwards.
  • Now this was a GREAT script.....

    The Life of a Teenager.

Within the first moments I was really intrigued to see how the link to the boy who was pushed to far at school to Greg and Ed's position as a parent of a teenager. I really appreciated the scene with Ed offering reassurances to the students that they were doing everything right. I loved the showing of SRU's frustrations with campus security and as shown it was justified. Parker put a lot of faith and trust in a brave teenage girl. I loved the scene with Ella and Ed at the end it was very fitting. Just like Ed is one there to help him put the pieces back together. I liked seeing Jules and Sam face her return and as Parker had said, they are professional and it was over. I just wonder if it is for either of them.moreless
  • A bullied teenager strikes back.

    9.5
The episode starts off with a teenager who happens to be a talented artist talking to a female friend about his latest project. She chats with him until her more popular jock of a boyfriend shows up. Fast forward to the outdoor stadium where the girl is being manhandled by her boyfriend and the artistic teen shows up and decides to stand up for the girl. It turns out to be not the best decision because the jock and his friends gang up on the boy, film him being ridiculed and to further the humiliation, they send it to practically everyone in the school. Rather than stand up for her friend, the girl says nothing and waits for her boyfriend to have his fill of fun before they all walk away, leaving the poor kid on the ground.

The show has found its niche in being able to humanize characters that most shows would merely present as one dimensional characters. The kids he shot were by accident and when he confronted one of the bullies his main goal was to humiliate the kid, not kill him. The other bully admitted to insecurities that he had that led to the actions that he took. The girl who at first stood by and watched her friend as he was bullied was the one who diffused the situation bravely by talking to him and holding out her hand to help him. Parker also felt an emotional connection to the case, being so far away and not having a relationship with his own teenaged son. He managed to stay calm and professional until the situation was diffused, unlike the campus cop who withheld info from the SRU, and then overreacted when he thought something happened to his own son. It was quite something to see the normally congenial Parker lose it in the locker room, and admit to missing his kid. The episode also marks Jules return. She's back as Sam's parter, but their romantic relationship is apparently over. Even though they maintain a friendly but professional partnership it's obvious that Sam is still having trouble with it. Question is, is it really over between them?

I'm glad to see that the show has found its niche as a character driven drama. It just keeps getting better.moreless
  • This was about a kid who has been bullied to much and so he was going to show those kids not to mess with him again by bringing a gun into school and he went looking for them.moreless

This was a great epsoide. It just shows what can happen if someone get bullied to much. Those kids shouldn't have done picked on him like the way they did. They just had something comming. His friend Ella was a brave girl to do what she did. Becasue I wouldn't have done that just in case she scared him and that could have startle and he could have shot her by an accident. But she was very brave for what she did. It also sucked for those kids who got shot who didn't even do anything to him. This was a very good epsoide. One of the best every.moreless
  • A kid brings a gun to school.

    8.2
The school shooting episode: A staple of every drama and it was bound to be done on Flashpoint, a show specializing in hostage situations, eventually. Luckily, the CBS series managed to do a good job with it, and it actually did not play into most of the stereotypes that often occur. For one, I certainly did not predict that he would get shot in the end, nor did I see Tony being unharmed.

I still think the show needs some major arcs to last for a long time and right now Sam and Jules just isn't cutting it for me.moreless

Spike: Training for a training exercise?

Ed: We play to win, Mr. Scarlatti. We play to win.

    • Sam: Dealing with my dad, that was the easy part.

Sam: When my mom asked when she gets to meet you.

    • Sam: Jules, you ready for this?

Jules: 48 days of physio, 4 hours a day in the gym, double time on the range. Yeah, I think I'm ready. Lets go make a difference.
