Two bombs are set off while Sam, Spike and Raff are responding to a Hot Call at an office building, trapping them and nine civilians inside with a third seemingly non-diffusible bomb. They soon realize that the answers to their questions, as well as the bomb's creator, are closer then they think.

I got into the show pretty late but in my catching up, Spike shines as my favourite character and this is one of the episodes why. Normally the goofball, it's easy to overlook that he's going through just as much emotional baggage as the rest of the team. The moment that really got me was when he got a call from his mom and the team reactions. He's like everyone's favorite kid brother and you just don't want to see him hurt. That's some camaraderie there. The only qualm I have is that justice doesn't really get served for me. Every episode of flashpoint has made it a point to address that some people are just going through a tough time and felt they were out of options. Sometimes they make a point to address that even if these hostage takers are going to jail, if they were wronged it's somewhat resolved. I mean I get why there wasn't time to do it, I just kinda wish they didmoreless

Flashpoint returned tonight with another fairly strong episode. We got to see a different character go for the emotional monologue than we usually do and we had a nice little twist, which albeit predictable, served its purpose. The action was limited to some explosions, but it was really the story that was the draw tonight and that is what the show needs: stronger writing. The writing is still strong, but this episode proved that they can still get creative and have a story such as taking down a big business that answers some philosophical questions in addition to being entertaining.moreless
