  • Great show....on big error tho...

    9.0
This was a very good episode. I enjoyed the entire show...except for the glaring mistake ....when they find the trap door in the hotel that goes to the tunnel...the rug and bed are covering the door! How did the kid get down into the tunnel and was able to pull the rug back...let alone the bed. I was really dissapointed in this big error.

Other then that...loved the show...my favorite character is Ed....and I think that's him singing the song at the finale. I'm so glad CBS is finally airing the rest of the episodes also. Looking foward to the rest of the season!!!moreless

Flashpoint has just been unbelievably good during its run since 2008. I did not expect much when I watched the pilot, but since that night the show has become one of the top five dramas on television: it really is that good. But tonight's season premiere was nothing to write home about. The storyline was interesting, but it was about as predictable as can be. After the viewer got past the twist with the kid being the real bad guy, there was no drama from that point forward; he grabbed a woman, they talked him out of it, fade to black.

Still a fine hour of TV, but below average by this show's standards.moreless
  • Great Show

Despite some goofs that have been eloquently presented in the Trivia section, :) this was a terrific episode. We live in a culture that is very quick in rushing to judgment and here we see how dangerous this can be. Both Jules and Paul's mom saw what they wanted to see in young Paul, and each had only part of the story and of Paul's reality.

After Sgt. Parker asked Jules to be more empathetic with the mom and the team began to dig deeper, a much different story and profile emerged and, armed with a deeper understanding of the boy's truth, Greg was able to diffuse a very dangerous situation by listening and showing true empathy.

For me that is a really beautiful example of what we can all accomplish if we take a bit of time to get to know people and learn about their stories. After all, everyone has a story.moreless

  • TRIVIA (7)

    • Leah is absent from this episode, said to be dealing with a family emergency.

    • Goof: Paul Wilder's birthday is February 8, 1993 and they says that he is 17 years old, meaning the episode takes place sometime after February 8, 2010. Meanwhile, the date on Sophie Lane's sonogram that she had done that same day is January 12, 2010, and Frannie's birthday (which was also the day of the episode) is said to be January 23.

    • Goof: When Jules is reading Paul Wilder's DMV information off the computer screen, the license they show for him is inaccurate for several reasons. 1. He recently turned 17 years old and has a class G2 license, which means he received it recently. So, his license should be one of the new green and blue ones, not the old purple ones that were replaced a couple of years ago. 2. Beneath his picture, there is a red stripe with four white dots. These dots are used to indicate a fully licensed (class G or equivalent) driver with at least four years driving experience. It is impossible for a class G2 driver or a 17 year old to meet these requirements. 3. His address is listed as in Toronto, but the postal code is J4Y 2L2. This postal code is for an address in Quebec. If it were a Toronto address, the postal code would begin with the letter M. 4. His height is listed as 162 cm, which is about 5'4. He is clearly taller than that.

    • We learn that Ed has a brother who is a cop.

    • Greg had ordered there to be units at all of the nearest sewer exit points. Yet when the suspect emerged at one of the expected exits, there wasn't any police presence even though there was plenty of time.

    • Goof: When SRU removes the downed officer from the walkway of the seedy motel they break two rules of First Aid. 1. When approaching any patient, the 3 things a first responder checks for are Airway, Breathing, Circulation. Bleeding would be the last thing to be treated, because if the heart isn't beating then the patient is dead. Ed treated the bleeding first and then directed Jules to check for a pulse. He should have checked for the pulse first and had Jules apply the bandage. 2. When treating bleeding, the area should be cleared of any clothing or obstruction before bandaging. Ed put the pad directly over the officer's bloody coat and then Wordy told Roy that it was a coagulant pad that would stop the bleeding. The pad wouldn't have been able to work when applied in this manner. The pad needs to be applied directly on the wound for the coagulant medication to work on the damaged vessels. In this same scene, Sgt Parker calls for the medics and they walk right up behind Jules and Ed. If the the medics were truly that close to the scene, there would have been no need for the SRU team to start any type of aide to the downed officer. In real life, SRU would have carried the officer out of the hot zone to a more secure location and turned over care to the medics.

    • The police code 10-96 is code for Person believed to be dangerous.
