Flipside

Show Summary

Flipside is an Australian sketch comedy series that takes ordinary situations and turns them around, showing audiences the lighter side of the problem at hand. Comedy actors Gerard Cogley, Andrew Curry and Katrina Mathers take the ABC1 stage to present audiences with a thirty-minute comedy segments. Nathaniel Kiwi and Fiona Harris join the cast by mid-season, as a dying couple whose last wish is to learn how to do stand-up comedy. Other sketches include a man taking driving lessons in a gorilla suit, and a psychologist who thinks he is Sigmund Freud's reincarnation. By the end of the season, Steven adds to the cast his two comedic brothers, Bernard and Andrew Curry, along with Steven Stagg to play a trio of misfit bartenders who have no idea how to make a drink.

  • A slightly obscure, very deadpan, silly and particularly clever sketch/mockumentary series featuring some of Australia\\\'s funniest young actors.

    9.0
Flipside still has its fans. Originally buried in a late night timeslot by the ABC, this was a refreshingly original series featuring the multi-talented Curry brothers - Stephen, Bernard and Andrew along with the equally multi-talented Fiona Harris, Nathaniel Kiwi and Katrina Mathers. Repeated a couple of times on thecomedychannel it would be great to see this charming series released on DVD.

Each episode had a different narrative \\\'pisstake\\\' storyline broken into short sections and surrounded by off-the-wall sketches, which were mostly about the day to day life of 20 something year olds.
