Fonz and the Happy Days Gang

Show Summary

Inspired by the hit ABC-TV series Happy Days, this cartoon has Fonzie and the rest of the gang (Richie, Ralph, and the Fonz's dog Mr. Cool) spread cool fun as they travel in a time machine to different times and places throughout history. Their guide is Cupcake, a young futuristic girl who pilots the machine, which they repaired for her following her unscheduled landing in Milwaukee in 1957. The original cast members voiced their own characters. Voices included: Fonzie (Henry Winkler), Richie (Ron Howard), Ralph Malph (Don Most), Cupcake (DeeDee Conn), and Mr. Cool (Frank Welker). The cartoon began on November 8, 1980 and ran until September 18, 1982. At that time, Henry Winkler as the Fonz and his sidekick dog, Mr. Cool joined the Army and were added to the cast of the animated Laverne and Shirley in the Army. The show, which had begun on October 10, 1981, was renamed Laverne and Shirley With The Fonz and had the Fonz working in the motor pool as the chief mechanic. The series ran until September 3, 1983.moreless

i am just curious how they got henry winkler and ron howard to do the voices on the corny early eighties cartoon. i guess neither one of them realized how big they would become. i know henry had some dark days, but ron was pretty much successful out of the box. i am not suprised however than donny most did the show, because other than the love boat he has not been seen since.moreless
  • Ron Howard & Donny Most jumped ship @ a bad time!

    4.0
This is a rare feat. Two actors (Ron Howard & Donny Most) leave the parent prime time series & end up voicing on the Saturday AM series. Donny would later get another Saturday morning gig on Dungeons & Dragons (with Willie Aames & Adam Rich).

Henry Winkler is one of the few actors to do a prime time series & the Saturday AM version in the same season (The Brady Bunch kids & Punky Brewster also hold that distinction).

Closing credits could not be found on this series until after The Richie Rich/Scooby & Scrappy Doo Hour. Except for Superfriends & the Weekend Special, ABC had the idea to merge one set of closing credits for three shows (or as I would call it, a prize package). There were two sets, one was for the Hanna-Barbera set (Fonz & The Happy Days Gang/Richie Rich/Scooby & Scrappy Doo Hour), the other for Ruby-Spears (Thundarr/Heathcliff & Dingbat/Plastic Man & Baby Plas).moreless
