Pregnant Donna Reynolds finds herself welcomed into a life of luxury when her husband is picked as a first round draft for the superstar Florida Stingrays. But she immediately struggles with her sudden wealth, the change in her husband's personality and her promiscuous younger sister, as well as the fact she's being blackmailed by the man who adopted her secret first child. Meanwhile, the rest of the football wives don't fair much better. Leader of the pack Tanya Austin worries her husband's place on the team is in jeopardy when general manager Frank Wallingford becomes interested in signing up a talented young quarterback, and Chardonnay Lane faces up against her fiercely protective mother-in-law, who will do anything to stop her son from marrying the supermodel-turned-pop star.moreless

- Many of the cast signed talent deals with ABC after the pilot wasn't picked up, with some of the show's stars jumping ship to other ABC series. Gabrielle Union had a recurring role on Ugly Betty, Kiele Sanchez booked a recurring role on Samantha Who?, James Van Der Beek had a guest spot on Ugly Betty and Eddie Cibrian appeared on Dirty Sexy Money, Ugly Betty and Samantha Who?.

- Holly Robinson Peete is, in reality, a "football wife", having been married to former NFL quarterback Rodney Peete since 1995.

- Almost all the principal cast are alumni of shows that aired on the now defunct WB network. The most obvious example of this is James Van Der Beek, who famously played Dawson Leery on The WB's Dawson's Creek.
