Footballers' Wives - Extra Time

Show Summary

The first series of this Footballers Wives spin-off, Extra Time directly followed the fourth series of the main show, airing on ITV2. It ran for 12 episodes, for half a hour. The second series ran alongside series 5 of the main show, with thirteen episodes produced at 45 minutes per episode. The show like it's original follows the lives of the footballers and their wives, at Earls Park football club. Alot of the cast appear in both the original series and the spin-off, however the spin-off also brought in new characters to this show and subsequently the main show.

  • Same vein as the original show just without as many footballers.

Footballers wives extra time takes about 2 episodes or so to warm up to simply because it is a spin off and the characters are still painfully new. But once Yasmin and the Brother settle in And Bruno goes Back to regular footballers wives, it becomes its own show. The salters are the heart of this little Drama with Anika doing a fair imitation of Tanya but Alas the real thing she is not. It's real failings though are not tying the two shows more closely together . It seemed bizarre to me that Tanya and Annika never once shared screen time as 1 little evil scheme executed would have been enjoyable. But as a stand alone show it did fine I even ended up getting into the Cash character... tsk tsk poor Woody and Yasmin!!moreless
  • The spin of to Footballers' Wives.

I'm sick of people saying that Extra TIme is bad because it's not. It get trhe highest ratings for ITV2 so why should they cancel it. If they renew it for another series, Shed will be able to wrap up all the loose ends from series five. Extra Time gives us more sex, drugs and fun after Footballers' Wives. And I'm sick of hearing people say that Extra Time killed Footballers' Wives because it didn't. The BBC did. They had to put on the crap 'Hotel Babylon', and the abolutely *beep* 'The Street'. It would be stupid for ITV to cancel Extra Time. The only thing I don't get about it is that Bruno could have like... seventeen or eighteen year old children and he could have been married seventeen or eighteen years ago even though he's only thirty something. But overall, its a really good show.moreless
  • A spin-off of the glossy British drama which had made a farce of the show.

Boy, does this stink! Not only do you have a bad script, bad storylines and bad characters, but you also have allsorts thrown in which basically says that this must be the worst TV-spin-off ever to hit the UK. You can say it is cool, but personally, I can not.
  • The spin off 2 Footballers Wives while the football season is over.

This is 1 of my fave shows i have not missed a single 1 of this show. I also love watchin Tom Swire who plays Seb Webb as he is totaly buff. I find the story line wiv Anika abit confusin at times but hopefully it will all be sorted out soon so it wont be as confusin any more.
  • Let's be honest here - was this REALLY necessary?

    2.7
Okay, I love Footballers Wives as much as the next person (Assuming the next person likes it too, that is.) But it's led me to think - was Footballers Wives - Extra Time really necessary? The plot lines are really weak, and the acting of the new characters is very wooden.

The old cast - Helen Latham, Jamie Davis and Ben Richards to name but a few - are still good, of course, and always will be in my eyes. But the newer cast- Bruno's children and Tanya's sister - are dreadful. I really hope they're not going to be on the actual programme when it is brought back on ITV.

All this series is to me is a desperate attempt to milk more out of a show that sadly, seems to be coming to an end in itself.moreless
