Episode 13
AIRED:
It's down to the final three and you know what that means! (Okay, well if you're not a complete reality junkie, it means 24-Hour Fantasy Dates!) Erin tried to put aside the game and follow her heart while she spent time away with each guy. Chad's date was first and he and Erin jetted off to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. They stayed at the Mexican equivalent of the Bel-Air mansion: An incredible private, beachfront estate fully stocked and staffed for the occasion. As the sun set, they enjoyed margaritas on the rocks - they were sitting on actual rocks, the margaritas were actually blended. Back in Bel-Air, Rob kept pretending he'd never been in the house. Wade continued to ask just how Rob knew Erin, how they'd met, when they dated etcetera, but Rob kept dodging the issue with silent stares. Meanwhile, in Mexico, Erin and Chad were amazed at how comfortable they were with each other. After a candlelit dinner, guess where they decided to go? C'mon…guess. If you said, "Hot tub" then you win! The kissing, like the water temperature, kept getting hotter. However, trust was definitely an issue on both their minds. Early the next morning, Chad gazed at the crashing waves and pondered his fate and his future. Luckily, he didn't bother to put a shirt on first. He was dreading the end of the date; not only because he'd miss Erin, but also because he knew she was heading off on two more dates with Wade and Rob. Erin and Chad were cozy during their flight back to "reality", but were surprised to find Wade waiting for them at the airport. It was a bit awkward and didn't give Erin a chance to give Chad a proper goodbye (read: more smooching). Soon Erin was back on a plane, this time headed to Sedona, Arizona with Wade. Known for its spiritual serenity, Sedona seemed the perfect place for both Wade and Erin to unwind. Not long after they arrived in their luxurious desert digs, a massage table appeared in the living room. The two were encouraged to give each other massages - which made Erin more than a little uncomfortable. She said giving someone a massage was rather intimate, and she didn't think she and Wade were at that point yet. Needless to say, Wade was all for it and didn't waste any time rubbing oil onto Erin's back. Erin later admitted she just wasn't feeling the same spark for Wade that he was obviously feeling for her. She seemed tense after the massage instead of more relaxed. Dinner was a romantic affair on a patio that offered sweeping views of the majestic Sedona landscape. While Erin felt Wade was genuine in his intentions and affections, she just wasn't feeling as connected to him as she felt with Chad. Speaking of Chad, he was also trying to gather information from Rob. Rob, however, pleaded the 5th and kept his mouth shut. The mystery man routine did nothing to ease Chad's suspicions. Back in Sedona, night had fallen and wine glasses had been emptied. Erin and Wade finished their heart-to-heart talk and Erin leaned closer to Wade's face. They moved towards each other expectantly, then Erin lunged forward like a schoolgirl to give Wade a quick peck on the lips. This was followed by the all-too familiar "you're-such-a-great-guy-but-I-don't-want-to-makeout" hug. Wade, who had picked up on Erin's obvious discomfort much earlier, described it as her "bailing out of an uncomfortable situation." He hoped he was misreading the lack of romantic connection, but we knew he wasn't. Finally, it was Rob's turn. After deboarding the arriving flight from Sedona, Erin waved goodbye to Wade and hopped into an awaiting limo with Rob. Fortunately, Rob knew exactly what Erin was going through. That common bond helped Erin relax by the time they arrived at a lush forest retreat. With no million-dollar secrets to keep, Erin and Rob simply enjoyed the surroundings that, according to Rob, "blocked out the world." Wade and Chad were using their "alone time" to (what else?) barbecue and attempt to decipher the connection between Erin and Rob. Both guys were totally suspicious of Rob, despite thinking he was a decent guy. Both concluded that the rest of their stay wasn't going to be as simple as getting the girl and getting the money. However, neither of them could figure out what the next twist would be. While enjoying dinner in front of a roaring fire, Rob explained to Erin what a risk he was taking by being there. Erin told him she thought he was there for closure more than for her. She still did not grasp how Rob truly felt about her! Note to Erin: Rob likes you. He really, really likes you. ACCEPT IT! Erin admitted to Rob that she wasn't initially thrilled to see him when he returned, but now she was glad to be spending time with him. She later said that Rob was essentially her "freebie." She knew he'd pick her over the money, no matter what. Did that mean either Chad or Wade would be going home? Chad and Wade pondered that very question as they tried to relax in the hot tub (sitting very far apart from each other, I might add). They continued to hypothesize on what type of relationship Rob and Erin shared, and what surprises might be next. Chad thought maybe Erin did know about the money, as Eric had suggested earlier. Or, he added, maybe she too would have a choice at the end. When Rob returned to the house, he found Chad and Wade in the game room. Both guys totally ignored Rob to the point that he scurried off to his room. Later, the guys got gussied up in their tuxedos as Erin arrived for the elimination ceremony. Erin was in for another surprise, but this time it was a great one. Jordan let her know that someone had arrived to help her with that night's decision. In walked Erin's best friend, Christy! Erin was thrilled to have an ally, and Christy sat in as the guys visited Erin one-by-one before the elimination. Christy thought Rob might be worth a second chance and described both Chad and Wade as fantastic. She was worried, however, that Chad was "like every other San Francisco guy." What did that mean? Chad was gay? Chad was a Giants fan? Chad was acclimated to foggy weather? Ultimately, Christy advised Erin to think about what she came there for and decide based on that. Out on the terrace, Erin called Chad's name first. She told him he looked "muy guapo," in the spirit of their Mexican getaway. For those of you who don't habla Espanol, she basically told him he looked handsome. Not surprisingly, she asked him to stay and of course he agreed. So it was down to Wade and Rob, both sure bets in Erin's book. Erin called Rob next and told him she was flattered that he had returned. She admitted that she had no clue how strong his feelings were for her until their fantasy date a day earlier. The ego blow soon followed when Erin rejected him for the second time on national television! She said her feelings just weren't as strong as his. He replied that she should open herself up to the remaining guys; otherwise she'd never get what she wants. Afterwards, Rob said he was a little relieved, knowing he wouldn't have to keep putting himself out there. After Wade was asked to stay, he admitted that it would take a "complete turnaround" in his romantic relationship with Erin for him to win. Meanwhile, Rob made his way to the study where he torched his million-dollar check with no regrets.moreless
