Episode 4
AIRED:
Welcome to the "final four": Erin, Kelly, Lauren and Paige. The episode started with a little girl talk in the kitchen. Paige asked the others if they were 100% sure they were getting asked back during the last elimination round. Kelly summed things up by saying that they were all 100% sure Laura would be asked back, so now, anything is possible. Jordan arrived and explained what would happen over the next two days. Each girl would have the opportunity for a one-on-one date. The dates ranged from the marvelous to the mundane, with one mystery date as well. The four girls had to decide who would go on what date. Paige said she wanted either bowling or the mystery date. Bowling?! The girls decided to randomly draw dates. Erin drew the "mystery date." Paige got a romantic gondola ride, Kelly got bowling and Lauren wound up with horseback riding. Kelly and Lauren were the least thrilled. Lauren had heard that Rob wasn't into horses and Kelly just thought bowling wasn't very romantic. Kelly's date was up first and she quickly got into the spirit. Rob arrived in a spiffy '55 red, convertible Thunderbird. He and Kelly cruised down the California coast to a retro bowling alley in Santa Monica. Rob was curious to see if high-maintenance Kelly could let her hair down and just hang out. For her part, Kelly was happy to see Rob's casual, relaxed side. She wound up bowling Rob over with three strikes in a row! Then, Kelly got down to business by asking Rob why he's chosen to kiss herself and Paige, yet didn't make a move on Erin. Rob sort of dodged the question by saying that it just "didn't feel right" with Erin. On the ride back to Malibu, Rob took advantage of the stoplights - smooching with Kelly at every red light. The other girls were poolside when Kelly returned. She kept the smooching to herself. Lauren's horseback ride was later that afternoon, and Lauren was looking forward to her first real alone time with Rob. Plus, she was hoping to have some romance given the romantic date setting. The horseback ride began at dusk, wound through Malibu Canyon and dropped the couple off at The Inn of the Seventh Ray for a candle-lit dinner. Rob stole some kisses and Lauren was okay with it since there was a million dollars at stake. However, she admitted (to us, not Rob) that it was "like kissing your pillow." Rob, meanwhile, was confident that they had "taken it to the next level." When Lauren returned to the mansion, Paige asked Lauren to rate Rob's looks on a scale from one to ten. Lauren gave him an 8 on looks and a 5.5 on kissing. This low rating led Paige to speculate (correctly) that Lauren was just in it for the money. The next day, Erin was up early for her mystery date. After a short limo ride, Erin arrived at an airport to find Rob waiting next to a vintage, prop plane. They flew south towards San Diego, enjoying the view and the small, shared quarters. Once they landed and got into another limo, Rob admitted that he had no clue what the rest of their date entailed. Rob tried to get some info out of Erin regarding her feelings towards him, but she wasn't very forthcoming. Finally, the tension broke when they arrived at the San Diego Wild Animal Park for a mini-safari. Erin also managed to dodge Rob's attempts at kissing her. Guess being surrounded by animal magnetism wasn't rubbing off! Paige's evening gondola ride was next. Rob brought her sunflowers and she brought Rob African violets. As the ride began against a picture-perfect California sunset, the gondolier told Rob and Paige that every time they went under a bridge they had to share a "grandissimo baccio" or "big kiss", in keeping with Italian tradition. (You gotta love the Italians!) It only took one "baccio" for Paige to grab Rob's face and reel him in for the "grandissimo" part! Paige admitted she had feelings for Rob that she never thought she'd have for anyone. As soon as Paige returned to the mansion, the other girls couldn't help but notice that she was floating on a love cloud. Kelly seemed to be the only one who was really jealous. The next day, everyone was preoccupied with thoughts of the elimination ceremony. Once the girls were all dolled up, Jordan came by to mention that Rob was downstairs in the study should any of them want to have a final word before the elimination ceremony. Kelly swung by the study first to reassure Rob that she had a great time with him on their date. She also handed him a note and white flower. The note contained the message that Kelly was "anxiously awaiting the next stoplight." It was very sweet. Lauren came downstairs next and apologized for holding back a bit on their date. Next came Erin, who also brought a note, and asked Rob to be patient with her. He replied, "I think I've been patient." Hmmm…was that a negative or a positive? Paige slipped downstairs and almost gave Rob the slip for the second time; however, she dropped by to give Rob a quick hug. After she left, Rob looked pensive as his voiceover let us know that there were two girls he definitely wanted to spend more time with and two girls that were on the fence. With the women perched on the outdoor staircase, and a heavy mist not helping the hair situation, Rob emerged to make his choice. He called Paige down first and asked her to stay. Kelly approached Rob next. He told her that she intrigued him and asked her to stay. So, I guess that answers the question of which two were on the fence. Only Erin and Lauren remained. When Rob called Lauren, it didn't seem like he was sure what he'd say. He told her she was "smart" and "dynamic." Then he told her to hit the road! As she walked away, Rob winked at Erin since she now knew that she'd be staying. Rob told Erin that spending the day with her was like hanging out with his best friend. With the rain becoming more than a drizzle, less than a storm, Rob called Paige, Kelly and Erin together at the bottom of the stairs. He told them that this whole process has been hard for him, but that he's been putting himself out there emotionally and hoped to get the same in return. He said, "I'm not looking for someone I can live with, I'm looking for someone I can't live without." But wait! There's more! Later, Jordan invited Rob to the "secret room" for a little chat. He proceeded to tell Rob that the ladies had not only been playing for Rob's affections, but for a million dollars as well. Now, faced with the three final dates, Rob was questioning their motives and wasn't sure who to trust.moreless
