A quiet morning in the mansion was disrupted when Jordan burst into the girls' bedroom with good news and bad news. The good news was that they'd each have a chance for alone time with Preston.
The bad news was that there were 5 girls, and only 4 dates. Like last season, the bachelor would choose a girl for the first date. At the end of that date, he could return to the mansion and pick up another girl for the second date, or stay with the same girl and continue the date. The news woke the girls up in a hurry and they clamored to get ready (which included some very odd shots of Rebekah shaving her entire leg). Once they were all primped and pretty, they stood out on the front porch awaiting Preston's arrival. Preston chose Andrea for his first date, much to Rachel's obvious dismay. PJ was also frustrated. She said that Andrea rubbed her the wrong way. Meanwhile, in the limo, Preston thought Andrea looked great and he kept commenting on her great stomach. Soon they pulled up to a roller rink and relived those junior high skating party moments. After rolling around for a while, they sat down at a table in the middle of the rink. Andrea made the not-so-subtle comment that Preston had good lips - which naturally led to a kiss. She said (in an interview) that she was smitten with Preston, but didn't want to completely let her guard down because Preston knew the value of her check - and she didn't. Was he in it for love or money? Well, that is just the burning question on everybody's mind, isn't it? Back at the mansion, the other girls trotted back out to the porch wondering if Preston would return. He and Andrea soon arrived, and Preston chose Ali. He said (in an interview) she had great legs and that she was using them to her advantage by wearing a short skirt! He also admitted that the only reason Ali got a date was because her check was worth a million dollars. Preston wasn't looking so dreamy at this point, at least not to me. They pulled up in front of an old silent movie theatre to find their names on the marquee - in true reality show style. Unfortunately for Preston, the "movie" was all about Ali, and not that fascinating. Preston said in interviews that he was disappointed in their conversation and he seemed totally bored during the slideshow of her life. Not surprisingly, back at the mansion Andrea gave the others a rundown of her date, but excluded key details - which drove Rachel crazy. Later, Ali and Preston returned after a quick smooch in the limo. While Ali thought they had a great connection (raise your hand if you hate that word), Preston thought it would be great to take her million dollars - but that he just wasn't feeling it with her. Preston next chose PJ for date #3. They drove about 50 feet and stopped the limo. Waiting on the edge of the property was an Arabian-style tent with big overstuffed pillows, sumptuous draped fabrics and of course, delectable food. Preston referred to PJ as a little ray of sunshine. The two kissed and canoodled, yet, in an interview clip Preston said, "She's one of the girls that I wish maybe had a little higher value." Yet, practically in the next breath he was saying that he could totally see a future with PJ. PJ wisely kept her guard up as much as is possible while lying down on big pillows.Back at the mansion, Rachel was getting on everyone's nerves with her constant bellyaching about not being chosen for a date so far. Even though she knew that she had already been on the most one-on-one dates with Preston, she continued to whine and complain throughout dinner. Only a stone's throw away, PJ and Preston stepped out of the tent to watch the sunset. This made PJ nervous, because she knew the girls might be able to see her and Preston should they happen to wander out onto the veranda. Once PJ and Preston returned from their date, both Rebekah and Rachel were hoping to be chosen for the final date. Preston made the fair choice and invited Rebekah along for the limo ride - and told her to bring a bathing suit. You could almost see smoke rising off the top of Rachel's head! Rachel later said (while still pouting) that it was fun when she was playing for money, but not fun now that her emotions were involved. In the limo Preston's energy level seemed to jump a thousand volts once he was in Rebekah's company. He also said that the fact that her check was only worth $1 had zero bearing on how he felt about her. They arrived downtown and enjoyed a romantic dinner atop a luxury hotel. The city skyline sparkled behind them as their eyes sparkled at each other. Dinner seemed really comfortable, yet both of them had second thoughts in the back of their minds. Rebekah thought Preston was a nice guy and she was attracted to him, but she couldn't be sure of his motives. Preston said Rebekah was probably the cutest girl out of the bunch. After dinner, it was time for the hot tub! They both enjoyed checking out each other's bathing suit bods. Soon they were sipping champagne and stealing kisses, steaming up the hot tub even more. At the end of the night, Rebekah said she was falling for him - and that he was not what she expected at all. The next morning, breakfast was spent listening to all the romantic details of Rebekah's date. Rachel grilled her, even though each additional piece of information was like a knife through her heart. Rebekah tried to say that she was too self-conscious to check out Preston's body in the hot tub, but the other girls weren't buying it. Later, the girls gathered downstairs for another one of Jordan's surprises. He said he had another chance for someone to learn the value of her check. PJ had to sit the game out, since she already knew her check's value. She was totally relieved. The others had to remove the rings that Preston had given them and hold them over a little pillow in front of them. Should they want to know their check's value, they would simply drop their ring. BUT, learning that value would cost them half of the check's amount. So, when Andrea dropped her ring, she soon learned she was "worth" $500,000, yet that amount was automatically cut to $250,000. Andrea was the only gal to drop her ring. Little did she know that Preston would soon learn her decision - and that it would greatly affect his opinion of her. She said she did it to try and understand Preston's motives. Jordan also mentioned that had she held out a little longer, he was willing to negotiate a 20% price cut instead of 50%. Rachel took great pleasure in talking about how much money Andrea lost in a matter of seconds. © Love Child & FLOM Site more less
