Season 3 Premiere
AIRED:
The Season 3 Premiere Part One: The Money Game Summer just wouldn't be the same without good-looking singles struggling between dating an equally good-looking member of the opposite sex or claiming a large cash prize. This time, however, the choice between Love or Money had some interesting new twists. First of all the 16 new women had no clue they were going to be on For Love or Money. A fleet of Mercedes G-Class SUVs whisked the anxious ladies up scenic Pacific Coast Highway to a hilltop mansion that rivaled any European castle. With jaws appropriately dropped in awe, the girls were even more surprised to see host Jordan Murphy emerge to greet them. Once they learned they were playing For Love or Money, the girls were shocked and excited. Luckily, there were already a few girls who stood-out as troublemakers. Blonde bombshell Andrea (pronounced Ahn-dray-ah) literally ran upstairs to claim the best room and the biggest bed. Flight attendant Rachel snarled to camera, "I can already tell Andrea is going to be an issue." The entire group seemed hyper aware of how to play the game. Everyone was coy on the topic of how important money is. Some, like virginal PJ, tried to brush the money issue aside completely saying they were more concerned with meeting their mystery bachelor. At dinner, the ladies toasted "to new friendship, the possibility of love and healthy competition." After dinner, the competition really began. All you realityphiles might remember that summer the ladies were each given checks made out to them for a million dollars. If the bachelor chose them in the end, the ladies would then have to choose between him and the million bucks. Erin, if you remember, chose money over poor Rob…she later chose Chad (who, by the way, she is planning to wed this summer!). This time, however, the girls had just started salivating when Jordan announced the first new twist. The checks were blank unless placed under ultraviolet light AND they ranged in values from one million dollars to one single dollar! The girls randomly chose blank checks unaware of their value. Jordan told them the only way they would learn the value is if they were eliminated or if the bachelor chose them at the end. So the real question was, "What is the price of love?" The next night, we met our handsome bachelor. Preston Mercer, a 25-year-old real estate broker from Denver, Colorado was a cutie. Preston, of German and Japanese descent, is an avid outdoorsman who claimed he was "at the stage in my life where I'm looking to meet that special somebody." Preston also had no idea he was actually on For Love or Money. The decoy host told Preston he was to give each of the 16 ladies a ring to wear. When he wanted to eliminate a girl, he would ask for the ring back. Then Preston took his spot on the expansive back veranda and waited to meet the ladies. PJ emerged first and Preston seemed pleasantly surprised. However, it was Jaime Pressly look-a-like Jamie - in a glittery dress slit up to "there" - that made Preston's eyes sparkle. He told spunky Meredith that she had "flare," and was later impressed with Johanna's self-confidence and Beth's great body. Meanwhile, the ladies enjoyed cocktails on the lower terrace and checked out Preston's butt. The buzzkill came when they learned that the next day six of them would be eliminated. At this point, Preston still had no idea what game he was really playing. The next morning, Preston arrived for a surprise breakfast visit. Note to reality show girls: sometimes it pays to shower before breakfast. Sadly, Heather and Ali had chosen to skip breakfast to engage in a bitch session. Heather, the old lady of the group at 33, was venting about the fact that their young suitor would most likely get rid of her first because of her age. It's just a number Heather, get over it! Anyway, they soon found out that the 14 other girls had enjoyed some brief Preston time and that no one had bothered to run and let them know. That night storm clouds rolled in over the mansion, while an emotional storm brewed inside. Once again, Preston met the ladies one by one, but this time he would eliminate 6 of them. Once again, Jamie did not disappoint with her Vegas-girl attire. Preston bid farewell to Johanna, Beth, Heather (she was right!), Meredith, Lauren and Melody. The ladies immediately went to the study to learn the value of their checks - and promptly burn them. They ranged from a million dollar babe (Johanna) to a one-dollar gal (Meredith). Meanwhile, the decoy host introduced Preston to Jordan and that's when Preston discovered the truth. Not only did Preston learn he was playing For Love or Money, Jordan let him in on another secret. Preston was told the value of the remaining girls' checks! So now, Preston had an advantage going into the first group dates. Part Two: The Love Game On the morning of the first group dates, the girls arrived at breakfast to find a box waiting for each of them. Each box contained a heart, but only one had a silver heart. The girl with the silver heart would have to pick three girls to be excluded from the group dates. Rebekah cried when she found her silver heart. CRIED?! If she were reality-savvy, like the rest of us, she would have immediately chosen herself as one of the girls to be excluded. Instead she apologized and sobbed as she named Leslie, Jamie and Rachel to sit out the dates. Of course Jordan then revealed that the three excluded girls would have a chance for a one-on-one date with Preston! Gee…didn't see that coming at all. Leslie, Jamie and Rachel would each have to anonymously write Preston a poem. The poem he chose would determine with whom he went on the alone date. In the meantime, PJ, Melayne, Ali and Tiniesha went on the first group date. Color me jaded, but if my group date involved a spin class on the mansion veranda, I'd be a little peeved. Where's my balloon ride? Where's my gondola? PJ was the first to change into exercise clothes and meet up with Preston, which gave them a little time to chat. That paid off because after the lame exercise "date", Preston singled PJ out for more alone time. He learned more about her fairly sheltered upbringing, while she realized she was developing a little crush on him. She also struggled with keeping the secret about the checks, not realizing that Preston was already way ahead of her - and knew she was worth $50,000. © Love Child & FLOM Sitemoreless
