LaCroix: My Nicholas. Now you are as eternal as Paris.
LaCroix: Three weeks in this town and I still haven't seen my old friend. This next song is dedicated to you, Nicholas. My brother, my child.
Natalie: Is this the same guy who came begging to me to help him change so he could see a sunrise?
Nick: Screw the sunrise!
Nick: I am what I am. And I don't think Betty Ford takes vampires.
Schanke: Can you believe that? Put a guy like that in homicide. Falls apart when he sees a little salsa picante.
The version aired on CBS omits several scenes seen in the longer Canadian/European version:
1) As Nick walks up the museum steps he hears Schanke's voice. As Schanke is too far away to be heard by a mortal, Nick tells a fellow cop that he can smell Schanke's cologne.
2) Nick flinches at the sight of a cross walking up the steps.
3) Nick shows Alyce that one of the suits of armor at the ROM is wrongly put together.
4) When Nick tells Nat about Lacroix there is an additional flashback.
This episode is part one of a two-part remake of the original pilot aired in 1989.
Janette: Mmm... yes, the Dorian Gray syndrome.
Dorian Gray is the main character of Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray. In the novel Gray's portrait ages, while Gray himself appears to remain young.
