    Its been a while since I watched it but I'm sure in S1 Foyle us introduced as Detective Chief Superintendent

    Which is correct?

    Christopher's rank

    The rank of Christopher Foyle is “Chief Superintendent”. He investigates crimes for this reason is called a “detective” and works in civilian clothes. So his complete title is Detective Chief Superintendent or D.C.S. Foyle.

    Foyle was originally written as a Detective Inspector but Anthony Horowitz changed him to a Detective Chief Superintendent by the time the pilot, The German Woman, was produced.

    In doing so it was wrong.The rank of D.C.S. was not around until after WW 2.
