Based on the apparent timeline, viewers are apparently expected to believe that Franklin and his friends have aged approximately four or more years since the first season of the show.
Franklin and Harriet are both shown sleeping in beds in their grandparents' house in "Franklin's Magic Christmas," yet in "Franklin in the Dark" and other Franklin stories, Franklin sleeps on the floor, inside his shell.
In "Franklin's Magic Christmas," Franklin's family has a large yellow car with a roof. In the TV series, the Turtle family car is white and has nothing but a windshield. Also, the Turtle family household has received some kind of paint job, as it's now brown instead of its normal white color.
Franklin: Look, Harriet. It's Sam. It's okay. You can play with him. Harriet: 'Kay! Franklin: But I want him back by bedtime. There's only so much sharing a big brother can do.
Franklin: It's Christmas Eve. I bet the reindeer have a lot to do tonight. Harriet: Santee Claus? Franklin: Maybe.
Franklin: Grandma and I named it Sam's Star. Isn't it beautiful? Harriet: Pretty.
Franklin: Wow! Harriet: Magic. Franklin: Yeah, magic.
Harriet: Fwankin cwoss? Franklin: Yes, I'm cross. You scared Rosie away. Why'd you have to go and follow me anyway? You never do what you're told! Harriet: (sobs) Franklin: (covers Harriet with a blanket) Hey, don't cry. I'm sorry I yelled at you. It's just that... because of me, Grandpa got hurt. And now we're stuck in the middle of nowhere. Some Christmas.
Franklin: This doesn't look familiar. If only I could see Sirius, then I'd know which way to go. Harriet: We there yet? Franklin: Harriet?! Harriet: Supwise!
Franklin: I'm sorry, Grandpa. Mom and Dad asked me to take care of you and Grandma. Grandfather: Now, Franklin, it was an accident, simple as that.
Franklin: Can I go with you, Dad? Harriet: Unh uh. Franklin gotta finish secwet. Mr. Turtle: What's this about a secret? Harriet: Secwet sleigh! Franklin: (really annoyed) Awww!
Grandfather: Just in time for lunch. This chili should chase the cold away. It's my secret recipe. Harriet: Secwet? Me gotta... Franklin: (quickly) Have another fly.
Harriet: Yummy! Franklin: Harriet, those flies are for the salad! Harriet: 'Kay.
Mr. Turtle: It's so cozy in here with the roaring fire and the Christmas lights all... Mrs. Turtle: ...Off. Franklin: Wow! A blackout!
Franklin: It sure must be cold. Even the trees are shivering. Harriet: Trees shivwing.
Franklin: Sometimes I wish I never had a little sister.
Franklin: That one's brighter than all the others. Grandmother: That one's Sirius. If you're ever looking for Woodland, all you have to do is follow Sirius. Some call it the "Dog Star."
Harriet: Hawwiet love Sam! Franklin: You mean Harriet lost Sam!
Grandmother: I've never told this to anyone before, but that reindeer didn't run away ... He flew away.
Grandmother: Something happened that Christmas. Or I think something happened, that was very unusual.
Franklin: Harriet! Harriet: My bed! My bed! My bed! Franklin: Ah, I don't have to share, do I?
Harriet: Fwankin mad? Franklin: Of course I'm mad. Why can't you leave my stuff alone?! Mrs. Turtle: Now, Franklin, there's no need to be so cross. Your sister's sorry. Harriet: Sowwy.
Mrs. Turtle: I thought you were going to take care of the presents. Franklin: Harriet started it, she... Mr. Turtle: You're older than her, Franklin.
Franklin: Bring him over here. Harriet: Unh uh. Mine. Franklin: Harriet... Hey, Sam's mine.
After singing the first verse of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" while riding to Dr. Bear's, Franklin continues, singing the rarely heard fifth verse of the song. You can read all five verses here.
Sirius, the "Dog Star," is the closest star to Earth other than the sun and therefore the brightest star in the sky at night. Learn more about Sirius here.
This movie makes references to skills that Franklin had learned in previous episodes. One example is when he does wood-working, as seen in "Franklin the Trooper" Another is knot-tying, but unfortunately Franklin doesn't seem to have learned his lesson from "Franklin Camps Out," as Rosie easily slips free of the knot he makes to hold her.
Franklin's line in which he says that there's only "so much sharing a big brother can do" is lifted from the ending of Franklin and Harriet, in which Franklin gets upset with Harriet after Sam ends up in her crib one night and then she tries to take him for her own.
