Niles is forced to postpone his first romantic date with Daphne due to his marriage obligations with Mel. He has to attend their phony wedding reception and act happy about it so Mel can grant him the divorce. During the party, Mel tells him he can't be seen in public with Daphne while they're still officially married. This comes as a great turn off for Daphne, who thinks Niles is taking Mel's side on the whole thing. Frasier, now threatened to be sued by Donny for revealing to Daphne how Niles felt about her, decides he's done too much harm to the story and no longer wants anything to do with it. But Frasier Crane is Frasier Crane, and he can't help himself. With some help of Martin, he convinces Daphne to go out with him while Martin takes Niles out. They take the two to the roof, where Frasier set a dinner table and a very romantic environment. Just because they can't be seen in public doesn't mean they can't have their romantic dinner.moreless

      • Niles: (To Daphne as they dance) ...I'm from a small mountain village in Tibet. Tenzing Norgay used to carry me to school. Tenzing Norgay (Tibetan: 1914 - 1986), often referred to as Sherpa Tenzing, was a Nepalese Sherpa / Tibetan mountaineer. Near his 39th birthday on 29 May 1953, he and Sir Edmund Hillary were the first people known to have reached the summit of Mount Everest.

      • When Frasier is in the kitchen with Martin going on at length about how he will never again try to help Niles and Daphne, he uses the Latin phrase, "Numquam Postea!" Numquam means "at no time/never", and postea means "afterwards". In other words, "never again!"

      • During Niles' and Mel's "wedding reception", when Niles cuts the cake, you can see him then cut the slice in half again with the cake server. This is no doubt to make the piece smaller for when Mel stuffs an entire piece of cake into his mouth.
