Frasier and Niles think that Martin hiring a dog psychiatrist is ridiculous, and constantly mock him the whole time he's checking on Eddie, making snide comments, and getting dirty looks from their father, its not until later that evening, when each of them take a good look at their own lives do they stop and think that each one of them have been depressed lately and that the doctor might be right about Eddie.
That is until Frasier finds Eddie's favorite doll from under the couth that Eddie is happy again.
This was the story he told his only caller for the day, and had a pretty good message, don't dwell on every little thing in life, just go out and live it.
