The hourlong ninth-season opener finds Frasier dating the devoted and doting Claire, yet still thinking irresistibly of Lana. Everyone tries to give him romantic advice, including two of his former love interests.
Goof: As Kirby is showing Roz his prom pictures, Roz's hair keeps changing positions, from on her chest, to slightly behind her shoulder, to completely behind her shoulder, without her moving it.
Kirby: (about Lana) You can't quit now, Dad! If you're gonna come back you gotta get used to her screamin'!
Daphne: (seeing Niles with his full beard suddenly gone) What happened to my noble savage?
Kirby: (to Roz) I got the prom pictures back. Wanna see 'em? I had them retouched...you're smiling now.
Niles: announcing his new Bohemian lifestyle to Roz and Frasier in Cafe Neurosa I'm not wearing underpants.
David Angell was one of the show's original creators. Both he and his wife Lynn died aboard American Airlines flight 11 on September 11th. Contrary to the belief that the show named Daphne and Niles son (final season) David after David Hyde Pierce, it was in honor of Angell.
At the end, this episode shows a title card that reads "In The Loving Memory Of Our Friends Lynn & David Angell".
The title, "Don Juan In Hell" was also used as a title card in Season Five's "Frasier Gotta Have It".
This episode was originally going to air on September 18th, 2001, but was pushed back by a week due to the terrorist attacks of September 11th.
"Cheers" had a fourth season episode with a similar title, "Don Juan is Hell".
Originally broadcast as part of a one-hour episode.
