The Show where Lilith comes back

Martin: Maris is a little strange; Lilith is WEIRD.

Niles: You never said that you preferred my wife to Fraiser's!

They could have easily done this:

Martin: Maris is a little strange; Lilith is WEIRD.

Niles: You never said that you preferred my wife to Fraiser's!

    Martin: I never said that.

How's that funnier? In fact, how is that funny?

Well, of course it isn't going to be funny WRITTEN but I can see it being hilarious when actually said on the show.

You may be able to, but I can't. It seems to be an unnecessary line

It isn't a laugh out loud moment, but I think its funny enough. The original 2 lines from the show weren't THAT funny to begin with anyway. Plus, it totally fits Martin's character.

I like that little added joke! I could totally see Martin saying that, then i think that if they acted it, it'd work & would be funny
