Niles didn't want to touch Barney the pigeon because birds carry disease, but he also didn't want to use Martin's handkerchief (presumably for the same reason) so he used his bare hands. But Niles had his own handkerchief...he used it to clean the safety smudge off the window.
Does anybody else find that KACL's choice of contestants is a little odd? Frasier, Gil and Kenny are justified as they are two personalities and the manager, but what about Roz and Noel? Frasier: I want that sky-rat outta here!
Martin: Oh no, Eddie will be crushed! The bird's like his pet!
Frasier: Eddie is the pet. He doesn't get to have a pet.
Martin: Hey, Fras. How was the weigh-in?
Frasier: Oh, it was appalling, thank you. My teammates ridiculed me for not pigging out beforehand. You know what is it about teams and, and competitions that just brings out the worst in people?

Martin: The little plaid skirt didn't tip you off?
Frasier: I thought it was a kilt!
Frasier: You did not make me cry. I chose to cry as a tactic to elicit sympathy and thereby regain my chess set.
