Frasier and Niles are cajoled into participating in a bike-a-thon, but neither know how to ride.
In this episode, Frasier can't ride a bicycle, however, in Season Five's "Desperately Seeking Closure" we learn from Niles that Frasier once owned and rode a moped, "in order to hang out with the cool kids".
Because they can't ride bikes, Frasier says he and Niles were always annoyed when someone used the expression, "Easy as riding a bicycle." However, Frasier uses the expression himself in the episode "Deathtrap".

The title is an allusion to the Schwinn bicycle company, renowned as a German manufacturer of bicycling engineering.
Fraiser's constant run-ins with the tree and the mailbox and the way he falls over afterwards is an allusion to a running gag in Rowan & Martin's Laugh-in (1968-'73)where a man wearing a yellow raincoat riding a tricycle runs into various objects--and falls over.
