Episode Summary

EDIT
During an especially bumpy flight, Frasier tells a fellow passenger about his eventful past few weeks, which are recounted in a long flashback. Bebe tells Frasier that he has been offered the chance to replace a recently deceased San Francisco radio host. Frasier declines because he is happy with his life in Seattle. She believes he is just playing hardball, and later approaches him again with an offer of a higher salary and the bonus of a regular morning television gig. Frasier accidentally misses part of his show after engaging in a "matinee" with Charlotte. Kenny fills in for him, and enjoys being on the air so much that he decides to quit his job and go back to being a disc jockey. Frasier's last dinner with Charlotte before her departure for Chicago is constantly beset with interruptions; including an appearance by Daphne's brothers Simon, Michael and Stephen, who have dropped in on their sister unexpectedly. Niles worries that his child will turn out like Daphne's brothers. Frasier finally gets everyone out of the apartment, and he and Charlotte bid each other a sad farewell. Ronee discovers that the hotel believes that her wedding to Martin is to take place on May 15 instead of in July. Martin realizes that he accidentally gave Eddie's birthday when he booked the hotel, but his Frasier and Niles promise to throw together a great wedding in spite of the short notice. The event is marked by a constant series of calamities. Daphne's brothers get the flower girl drunk; the air conditioning goes out on a sweltering day; and a mishap with a cannon causes a truck full of spooked cattle to stink up the surrounding area. Niles and Daphne must take Eddie to the veternarian after he accidentally swallows the ring. Daphne goes into labor, and a young vet must deliver the baby.moreless

    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (5)

    • QUOTES (2)

      • Niles: I woke this morning to find Daphne's brothers playing a game called 'I Can Reach It From Here.' Give you a hint, the 'It' was a toilet. And there were no winners.

      • Frasier: Well, it's very tempting, Bebe, but I'm very happy here in Seattle. I don't want to leave.
Bebe: Darling, it's San Francisco! Do you know what life is like there for a good-looking straight man? You'll be like a Snickers bar at a fat camp!

    • NOTES (8)

      • For his performance in this episode Anthony LaPaglia received a 2004 Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series.

      • Roz mentions the "disaster" the last time she took over the show, referencing "Enemy at the Gate", when she let slip she and Frasier slept together.

      • During the end credits of the syndicated episode, there is an additional scene in which Michael and Stephen Moon talk to Kenny and then show off the watch and wallet they've swiped from him.

      • The syndicated episode has both cuts and additions:

As Charlotte leaves, she says farewell, returns to reclaim her scarf, returns to claim her cell phone, then returns for a final kiss. The syndicated version omits the scarf, so that Frasier appears to be riled by only her first knock at the door. His "positively quilty" reply is replaced by a fade-out.

In the original version, the wedding guests bustle in from the smelly outdoors and it fades out on the overwhelmed Frasier. In syndication, this is followed by Frasier fretting, "A room full of overheated wedding guests...my Knudsak will be soaked!" (referring to his melting ice sculpture by artist Arthur Knudsak) and Roz, thinking he said "nut sack," assuring him that it won't be visible because he's wearing a black suit.

      • The vet office Niles and Daphne went to had photos of animals on the wall. In the flashback episode that played before this, the therapist tells Frasier that he had a brother-in-law who was a veterinarian and had pictures of his patients on the walls.

      • This episode aired at 8:54 PM on a Thursday night.

      • Several character names are references to "Frasier" writers past and present. The name "Dr. Anne Ranberg" is derived from the Writing/Producing team of Anne Flett-Giordano & Chuck Ranberg, and Bebe mentions a recently-deceased San Francisco radio host named "Mark Reisman," who shares the same name as former "Frasier" Writer/Producer, Mark Reisamn.

      • Originally aired as an hour long episode.
