  • As a teacher of Learning Disabled students, I saw this episode as an art imitating life experience with a twist. We all have our gifts, and I'm certain students like these (Niles and Fraiser) will find thier niche in life somehow!moreless

I teach students who have learning disabilities. I thought this episode showed from the non-disabled student\'s perspective how it feels to have low ability in an academic area. The Crane boys just didn\'t have the aptitude for this class. Students who have difficulty learning often become behavior problems in a classroom. The Crane boys became my students!
  • Niles and Frasier take a auto maintenance class.

After Frasier's car breaks down, Frasier and Niles decide to take an auto repair class, so they don't look foolish if their car breaks down again.

From the start of class, they get behind, manly do to their talking while the teacher is talking, they perform so bad in class that Randy, makes them his "special project".

They think about quitting but after seeing how proud Daphne and Their dad are they decide to give it another chance, but Roz tells them they should coast through the class, and it ends up getting them kicked out, so they have fake certificates made to fool Martin and Daphne.

I thought the actor they got to play Randy was a great choice, I love the end scene where Niles and Frasier where messing with him in Café Nervosa, and when he went to look they put the papers back up.moreless

    • (The teacher grabs the note from Niles and Frasier)
Teacher: Is that a funny note there? I enjoy funny things. Why don't I share it with the class?
(Pauses to read the note and stops)
Teacher: Does anyone here read French?
      (Frasier raises his hand)
Teacher: (now miffed) Anyone besides Frasier?
      (Niles raises his)

    • (Talking about the automobile repair class)
Roz: Wow, it sounds like you guys should just quit.
Frasier: If only we could, Roz. It's just that dad and Daphne are so proud of us, we can't let them down. They already bought mahogany frames so they can frame our certificates of completion.
Roz: So complete it! I mean, it doesn't mean you have to ace it. Just nod your head a few times and you're home free.
Niles: Are you suggesting we..... coast?
Frasier: We have never walked the back alleys of underachievement before!
      Niles: Dare we?
(They look at each other, pause and then close their books)
Niles: Oooh, I just got a chill!

    • Frasier: Please, please don't throw us out!
Niles: We'll shut up, we promise!
Randy: You promised that four times tonight. Sorry, you're gone.
Frasier: But what are we gonna tell our dad?
      Niles: And my girlfriend?
Randy: Maybe you should have thought of that before you started goofing off.

    • Frasier: (while dialing the phone) I am a true laborer. I earn that I eat, get that I wear. Owe no man hate, envy no man's happiness...
