Roz in the Doghouse

Aired Thursday 9:00 PM Jan 03, 1995 on NBC

  • Trivia

    • When Niles buys a pair of shoes for Martin, they have tassels and both Frasier and Niles like the shoes; but in "My Coffee with Niles", when Niles asks Frasier what he thinks of the new shoes he bought, Frasier says he isn't a tassel guy and then so does Niles.

  • Quotes

    • Daphne: I don't see what's so hard about telling Roz you were wrong.
Frasier: You don't understand. It's not the same as Dad being wrong, or you being wrong. I have a degree from Harvard. Whenever I'm wrong, the world makes a little less sense.

    • (Frasier's replacement producers have been disastrous)
Roz: (gloating) What happened? The cockatoo wanted too much money?

    • Frasier: I'm an expert in human behavior!
Roz: Oh, really? Excuse me. I've heard your expert advice! The only mental disorder you've ever cured is insomnia!
Frasier: Well, I'm surprised you had time to listen, what with being so busy with your ultra-demanding producer tasks! Answering phones and pushing buttons! My God, a cockatoo with a strong beak could do what you do!

  • Notes

  • Allusions

    • Frasier: (cautioning Roz about Bulldog's real intentions for wanting her to be his producer) Oh, Roz, Bulldog knows the blunt approach won't work with you, so he's being more subtle. But his ultimate goal remains to... well, to...
      Roz: To what?
Niles: To play Aeneas to your Dido.

Dido and Aeneas, by Henry Purcell, is England's oldest opera, based on a story by Virgil. In it, Dido falls in love with Aeneas but he leaves her, returning to his duties as a soldier. Heartbroken, Dido commits suicide. In other words, Niles is saying in his very "Crane-like" way that Roz is nothing more than a one-night stand to Bulldog.
