  • Trivia

    • Noel misquoted Star Trek when he said. "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one." James Tiberius Kirk, Captain, Starship Enterprise. In reality, it was quoted by Spock.

  • Quotes

    • Roz: Frasier, I spent that raise already - on my new diamond earrings! I love them. I love them so much, I slept with them.
Frasier: Well, Roz, as long as you're doing it for love, it's a step in the right direction.

    • Daphne: Oh, come on now, Dr Crane. It's not like men have never used sex to get what they want.
Frasier: How can we possibly use sex to get what we want?! Sex is what we want!

    • Daphne: Oh, no need to be shy around me. I'm a professional health care worker! I've seen it all! I've helped your father in and out of the bathtub.
      Martin: Okay, Daphne...
      Daphne: I've seen his bits!
      Martin: Hey!

    • Kate: "Cul-de-sac of vulnerability?!" Alright, listen. You see me for a couple of hours out of every day, and you think you know me? The me me? Alright, I can be tough--okay, I've gotta be. I can also be tender...spontaneous...shy...lusty...playful...
      Frasier: (turned on) Kittenish?
Kate: I could climb you like a scratching post.
      Frasier & Kate: Damn!
      (Frasier and Kate kiss passionately)

    • Niles: I'm always the girl! In every prep school play I was the girl! Guinevere, Marian the Librarian, Ado Annie. Well, no more, I'm through with it! When do I get to be Shoeless Joe from Hannibal, Mo'?!

    • Niles: There is no greater friend to the working man than my own Maris. Remember when our stable boy Joachim's appendix burst? She had him driven back to the border at her own personal expense.

  • Notes

  • Allusions

    • The scene where Frasier and Kate hurl insults at one another and then suddenly embrace and begin making out is an almost exact duplication of one of Cheers most of famous scenes. Sam and Diane have a similar fight in the first season finale, hurling verbal assaults at one another in Sam's office before heatedly succumbing to their passions.

    • (KACL staff members are holding a clandestine meeting in Roz's studio to discuss their strategy for securing a raise)
Frasier: (as Noel Shempsky cautiously closes the door) Ah, yes. You've really dropped the cone of silence now. The "Cone of Silence" is one of many recurring joke devices from the 1960's comedy series, Get Smart starring Don Adams. Actually, the term originated on the 1950's syndicated TV show Science Fiction Theatre in an episode titled "Barrier of Silence".

    • Scene Four Title: I DRAW THE LINE AT BLANCHE DUBOIS

Blanche DuBois is the main female character in the Tennessee Williams play A Streetcar Named Desire (made into a movie in 1951 starring Vivien Leigh and Marlon Brando). In this case it refers to Niles and the fact that he was always asked to play the girl's part in every prep school play.

    • Episode Title: Sleeping with the Enemy

References the 1991 suspense thriller, Sleeping with the Enemy, starring Julia Roberts and Patrick Bergin.
