  • Great episode!

Daphne finds out that Niles has always been in love with her for six years, and what I really like about this episode is the fact that everyone gets something the wrong way, which causes Daphne to try and ditch out Niles, after believing that Niles is going to reveal his love, but in fact wants a gift back from her. But later, Daphne discovers that he has in love with Niles. While Frasier discovers that he is really unpopular as no one wants to go to his party, what a really cool episode!moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • Interesting that Frasier is amused by Kenny's "Christmas in Mexico" party theme. In "Miracle On Third Or Fourth Street" (Season One), Frasier has chosen red chili pepper lights for his own Christmas tree, saying that they are "very fashionable". What's more, those same lights are on the tree at Kenny's office party.

    • It is past the time when Frasier's party guests were due to arrive but Frasier is still optimistic. The doorbell rings and he strikes a welcoming pose, hand on hip, arm raised and says "Daphne, open the floodgates!" You can see, however, that even before the doorbell rings, Kelsey Grammer has already begun to assume this welcoming pose.

  • QUOTES (3)

    • (Daphne disovered that Niles has a crush on her.)
Daphne: Well, I can't very well discuss it with Dr. Crane, he's so close to Dr. Crane. If I told him, he might tell Dr. Crane and then Dr. Crane might feel embarrassed.
      Roz: Yeah, why confuse things?

    • Frasier: Have you been baking?
      Gil: I have! Gingerbread men.
Frasier: Oh my, don't they look muscular!
Gil: Yes, well, my wife and I made a New Year's Resolution. Deb and I have joined a gym to slim down and buff up. We needed these to inspire us.
Frasier: Ah, yes, there's nothing to strengthen a dieter's resolve like a good motivational pastry.

    • Niles: (On Yoshi) He had a heart attack when he was out trimming Maris' elaborate hedge maze. The paramedics never had a chance.

  • NOTES (3)

    • Pandora's Box
When Frasier finally reveals to Mel that Niles was with Maris the previous night, Niles quips, "Well, anything else in the box, Pandora?"
Pandora's box is featured in a myth, in which Pandora is told not to open the box she's given. She is so curious she does open the box and unleashes all kinds of terrible things on the world like hate and sadness. She manages to save one creature from escaping, though - hope.

    • The epiosode title is an obvious allusion to Clement C. Moore's classic poem "The Night Before Christmas".
