  • Niles and Dr Schenkman engage each other in the ultimate bedroom farce while Martin dates an older woman.

Hot on the heels of 'The Zoo Story' comes another cracking episode that finds David Hyde Pierce in stellar form. His sense of comic timing has never been better than in his encounter with the new marriage counsellor that needs to be seen to be truly appreciated.

Martin is set up with a woman from the dog park,or so he thinks. It turns out the woman he was hoping to meet introduces Martin to her mother. The closing credits add a nice touch of the absurd to an already fragile relationship.

By episode's end all three Crane boys concede defeat on their recent relationships, setting the scene for the rest of the season.moreless

    • Martin: She's invited me to her place tomorrow night. I guess my little hard-to-get plan really paid off.
Daphne: Yes, you should really write a book: "How To Get A Date In Two Easy Years."

    • Niles: Fifteen years with Maris, I end up in bed with her lover.
Martin: Gee, I didn't need to hear that!
Niles: No, no, it was an accident. It was pitch dark, I thought he was Maris.
Frasier: It's a natural mistake. What tipped you off?
Niles: The heat from her side of the bed.

  • NOTES (1)

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • (Daphne has just passed the phone to Martin who is being invited to dinner by Mrs. Crowley)
Daphne: (Aside to Frasier) A certain someone is inviting a certain someone else to dinner.
Frasier: Yes, where would the world be without you Brits and your knack for code-cracking?

Although Frasier is teasing Daphne, the "Brits" reference is clearly to Alan Turing, among others, who in World War II England cracked the codes of the famous German Wehrmacht Enigma encryption machine.
