  • Niles plans to ask Daphne to marry him.

Niles has it all planned out, he wants to make everything perfect when he pops the question to Daphne, the only problem is her mother, so Niles asks his dad if he would take Mrs. Moon out, and Martin agrees, though he is really drunk.

So with Mrs. Moon out with Martin Niles has Frasier to help him with everything, but everything changes when Daphne shows up with the flu, so Niles postpones everything, and Frasier tries to get everybody out of the house without Daphne seeing.

Though the setting is just right and Niles pops the question to which Daphne accepts.

I loved the part after Daphne accepts Niles proposal someone comes from the stairs and as they are about to play Frasier jumps them, very funny, I wasn't expecting that.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • It's strange that Frasier thought he could get away with asking his father the name of the woman he dated a couple of years earlier ("Whine Club," Season 7). The woman's late husband and Marty had been close. They went to the police academy together, he lent Marty money to buy his first car, he named his son after Marty, and, as Frasier pointed out, he introduced Frasier's parents. Additionally, the surname was unusual -- Wojadubakowski. It's a good name to test Marty's speaking ability after drinking all that wine and beer, but thinking that Marty could be inebriated enough to believe that Frasier couldn't remember a name he had probably known most of his life defies logic.

    • Right after Niles proposes to Daphne, Frasier tackles a man at the top of the stairs. When they land, you can see the mat they jump onto to not get hurt.

  • QUOTES (2)

    • Niles: You know, it's funny. You could take a million years to plan the perfect evening, and you'd never come up with this. Daphne, I have to ask you a question.
      (Frasier looks up at this)
      Daphne: Hold on.
(She takes a tissue and blows her nose, long and loud. Frasier takes
the opportunity to hide behind the staircase. Daphne stops, takes a
      breath and blows some more)

      Daphne: You were saying?
(Niles reaches in his pocket and takes out the ring)
Niles: Daphne Moon, will you, and your beautiful toes and your exquisite ankles and your precious knees, elbows and arms and fingers, shoulders... (holds up the ring) Will you marry me?
Daphne: ...Oh, Niles! Of course I will.
(She throws her arms around him. Frasier holds his hand to his mouth
as he chokes up. At the landing at the top of the stairs, a "royal trumpeter" comes out, mistaking Daphne's acceptance for his cue. As he lifts his horn to his lips, Frasier rushes up the stairs and takes him down with a flying tackle, preserving the silence. Niles slips the ring on Daphne's finger)

    • (Frasier has just found out his mother was pregnant with him at her wedding)
      Frasier: You knew?
Niles: Well, do you remember that time I had the chicken pox? Mom told me to cheer me up.
