  • Lilith shows up in Seattle on the pretense that she is at a convention. It is revealed that she found a love note that Frasier wrote before he left for Seattle.moreless

The return of Lilith shows that there will always be a connection between them, not just Fredrick. They still love each other-they just can't live with each other. It was a very poignant episode and I always looked forward to other Lilith visits. She will always be part of his life, his love and really one of his best friends. Isn't she always the one he calls when he encounters a romantic problem? The ice princess can hold her own with the Crane brothers as well as her former father-in-law. And she gives Daphne chills - I love it. Their banter is always so fun to watch!moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • After Lilith apologizes to Niles, to show his appreciation he says that next time she comes to town, the two of them should get together. While Lilith did appear on the show a few more times after that, she always showed up away from Seattle (Bora Bora in "Adventures in Paradise" and Boston in "A Lilith Thanksgiving". In the Season 5 episode "Room Service" she does eventually return to Seattle and does end up getting together with Niles. Ironically, they get together sexually.

    • Life at KACL: Frasier suggests to Lilith that she should keep her "dial tuned to KACL for Gil Chesterton's "Restaurant Beat" when Lilith says she has no dinner plans. This is the first time we learn the title of Gil's show, and establishes a bit of a continuity error in that Bulldog's show usually follows Frasier's. Up to now we have only seen Gil off air and know very little about his show's timeslot.

    • After dinner Lilith is seen asking Martin about any "repressed sexual urges" that he may have encountered while subduing a suspect who had fired on him. Sexual repression is usually associated with Freudian psychology, of which Lilith is highly critical, along with her usual criticism of Frasier, who is a Freudian. This seems like an odd question for Lilith, who would probably be an Adlerian or a Behaviorist, to ask.

    • Frasier says he married Lilith "7 years ago," but they married in 1988, and this episode takes place in 1994--only 6 years later.

  • QUOTES (7)

    • Martin: So, I chased this guy down a dark alley and when he got to the end he turned and pulled a knife on me, so I gave him a couple o' good shots with my night stick.
Lilith: Fascinating. I have to ask. Were you at all aware of any repressed sexual urges while you were pummeling him so mercilessly?
Martin: Yeah, but I didn't put 'em in the report.

    • Lilith: (to Eddie) Go away!
      (Eddie runs off)
Frasier: Now why does he listen to you and not to me?
Lilith: By my tone of voice. He knows I mean business.
Frasier: I see, so you're saying your voice is more commanding than mine.
Martin: Hell, I took half a step before I realized she was talking to the dog!

    • (Lilith's first line on Frasier)
Lilith: Congratulations, Frasier, you've done it again. You've led another unsuspecting innocent down one of your dark, dead-end Freudian hallways.

    • Frasier: (annoyed) Roz, what exactly does "call screening" mean?
Roz: (grinning) It means I get to put on the air the calls I want to hear!

    • Frasier: Well, Seattle, we have a celebrity of sorts on the line. This is my ex-wife, Lilith.
Lilith: (perplexed) What do you mean, "celebrity"?
Frasier: (darkly) Oh, they know you.

    • Lilith: (to Frasier) I'm here for a convention, and I happened to hear your voice on the radio. I kept hoping you'd introduce Pearl Jam's latest hit, but much to my chagrin, you were doling out worthless little advice pellets from your psychiatric Pez dispenser.

    • Lilith: (on Frasier arranging to have Martin live with him) When I heard, I immediately switched over to the Weather Channel to see if Hell had INDEED frozen over.

  • NOTES (2)

    • For his work on this episode Ron Volk won the 1994 Emmy for Outstanding Editing in a Multi-Camera Series. In addition, Ken Levine and David Isaacs received a 1994 Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series.

    • Bebe Neuwirth reprises her role as Frasier's ex-wife Lilith for the first time in Frasier.

    • During her criticism of Frasier's advice over the radio, Lilith mentions how she expected to hear him promoting Pearl Jam's latest hit. Pearl Jam is a Seattle-based rock group. Incidentally, they had just released their 2nd album, Vs. in December, 1993--a couple months before this episode first aired.

    • Love Will Keep Us Together: Frasier's love letter contains lyrics from this Captain & Tennille song, which both Lilith and Niles mention.
