  • The pilot episode of the show, weird, but funny.

    9.0
Freak Show is one of those shows that is destined to fail, but maintain a cult following that will probably be as strange as the characters themselves. The show has some excellent ideas with the heroes being freaks with lame powers and the jabs at the Justice League of America are great! From where I stand there are only two things that are going to bring this show down: The flat out level of weird, and the poor animation. These sort of things are going to prevent it from reaching any mainstream audience of any kind and would be best suited on Adult Swim, rather than on Comedy Central. Other than that, it's funny, oddball humor so give it a chance.moreless
  • Freaks go to get nuts and almost get eaten by sholfins

    9.0
This show is awesome. I don\'t care what anyone else says. This show is very well written and the comedic timing is just what I\'ve come to expect from the likes of David Cross and H. Jon Benjamin. A couple of the characters are a little flawed but the great jokes make up for it. I will now remember classic lines such as, \"That\'s not a threat it\'s a...thromise\" and ,\"They are sholfins, sharks and dolphins gentetically spliced together (to become) the ultimate killing machine that you can also ride for five dollars." I hope the buzz on this gets reversed because I definitely want to see more Freak Show!moreless

  • Ding! The first episode of \"Freak Show\" was a pretty entertaining watch... if it\'s your kind of thing.

    7.2
\"Freak Show\" is definitely not a show for everyone. It can probably be best described as a cross between \"Home Movies,\" \"Aqua Teen Hunger Force,\" and \"Drawn Together.\" The dialogue style and pacing is very much along the lines of shows like \"Home Movies\" at times, most likely due to the involvement of H. Jon Benjamin. As far as the animation is concerned, \"Freak Show\" is very reminiscent of \"Stroker & Hoop\" (and, oddly enough, Jon Glaser voices a main character here as well). David Cross co-created with Benjamin, and it, to me at least, this is a very good pairing. The humor ranges from subtle to absurd to morbid. If you are a fan of shows like \"Stroker & Hoop\" or \"Drawn Together,\" even \"Mr. Show\" or \"Home Movies,\" and if you have a stomach for at times over-the-top violence, \"Freak Show\" is worth a look. However, if you are expecting clear-cut comedydelivered in a traditional style, this probably won\'t be your cup of tea. \"Freak Show\" is certainly out there...moreless
  • Lame lame LAME.

    1.0
David Cross and Will Arnett did some hilarious work on "Arrested Development", but this... What the hell was this? Mean-spirited misanthropy and gross-out for the sake of gross-out are not funny, and every single joke has been done to death on other, better shows. "Freak Show" is a pointless rip-off of Adult Swim fare like "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" (substitute sideshow freaks - most of them one-dimensional, one-note gags - for food, and "trying too hard" for "don't give a **** is totally predictable, and doesn't even have funny voices... just famous ones. (Also, not to split hairs, but if the team is called "Freak SQUAD", why the hell is the show called "Freak SHOW"?) What a waste of 20 minutes.moreless
