  • Freak's really in a pickle this time.

    8.9
Instead of having a happy birthday, Freak's got to do everything anyone tells him to! From the Queen to the Mask, Freak's been helping everyone and their grandma with their requests. But while Freak is having a talk with the Huntsman, we learn that all the other heros are having a conference on some moon... But the Huntsman doesn't know which one, so he couldn't join! But after that, we see the Lobe come in, and do the unthinkable- dance the hokey-pokey! After that, he gives freakazoid a mysterious gift... Freakazoid carefully opens it, only to discover that's it's really....

    A food dehydrator.

We soon find out that the reason the Lobe came is so that he could give Freak his requests: that he would be left alone. That means Freakazoid can't meddle in any of his plans! The Lobe is left to terrorize the city, and Freak must discover that the answer to his problems is in the very codebook which started everything.

This episode was well written, with great humor and musical numbers. The only thing bad about it is the large ammount of "Why didn't he do this instead of that?"s.moreless

    • Announcer: Oh no! What are we going to do?
Freakazoid: You're going to get some acting lessons, mister!

    • Neighbor: Hey! What are you doing!?
Freakazoid: I'm fulfilling your request; I'm mowing your lawn.
Neighbor: While the Lobe's attacking everybody?! Go get him already! What are you, wacko?
Wakko: No, I'm Wakko! (starts singing) Baton Rouge, Lousiana / Indianapolis, Indiana, /
And Columbus is the capitol of Ohio--
Freakazoid: HEY! Wakko, what are you doing here? We're kind of in the middle of something.
Wakko: Oh, it's OK! Steven loves it when we do this stuff. After all, Animaniacs is his favorite.
Freakazoid: Uh, sorry to break this to you, Wakko, but if I'm not mistaken, Freakazoid! is Steven's favorite show. We got a memo.
Brain: *Ahem* I believe you're both mistaken. It is the sophisticated wit and charm of Pinky and the Brain that has captured Steven's heart, as well as making it the breakaway hit of the WB's schedule.
Freakazoid: Well, why don't we just go find out?!
(Later, at the Amblin Entertainment building, they continue to argue.)
Steven Spielberg: QUIET!! Now what's this about?
Freakazoid: First of all, Steven, thank you very much for taking the time to meet with us. We realize you're very busy, and--
      Brain: Oh, just ask him!
Freakazoid: We were just wondering... who's your favorite?
Steven Spielberg: Who are you people?

    • When You Cannot Show Your Face

      Singer: Freakazoid, you wander
      A teen without a home
      Everywhere, they hate you
You've been cast out; you're alone.
      Your deeds have been forgotten
The world's a cold, cruel place
It's tough to go on living
When you cannot show your face.

    • Freakazoid: Oh, we've been at this all day! I hate this.
Cosgrove: I know, kid, but it's tradition. No superhero can refuse any request on their birthday.
      (Subtitle: Important Plot Point)
Freakazoid: Cosgrove, are you certain that's a superhero tradition?
Cosgrove: What, ya think I'm fibbing? I'm a fibby-boy? I heard it somewhere. Talk to the other superheroes if you don't believe me.
Freakazoid: I can't. They're all away at some conference.
      (Subtitle: Another Important Plot Point)
      Cosgrove: I'm wearing blue socks.
      (Subtitle: Not Important)
Freakazoid: If you mix vinegar and baking soda, you can make a little volcano!
      (Subtitle: Not Important... But Interesting)

  • NOTES (5)

    • Tiny Toon Adventures, the first of Steven Spielberg's Warner Bros. Television Animation productions, is not represented in the argument in the middle of this episode as it was on Nickelodeon at the time this episode aired.

    • You're a Meany, Nasty Lobe (Parody of You're a Mean One, Mister Grinch from How the Grinch Stole Christmas)

      Singer: You're a meany
      Nasty Lobe
You're as bad as villains get.
      Your head is really mushy
'Cause you haven't got a skull
      Nasty Lo-obe.
Why, I wouldn't sit next to you on an airplane if...
If there was a seat next to you on an airplane.

      Such a bad guy
      Nasty Lobe
You're as cruel as cruel can be.
      You're vicious; you're malicious
      You're despicable and more
      Nasty Lo-obe.
If you invited me to go to the movies with you, I...
      Probably wouldn't go.

    • When Freakazoid needed someone to stop the Lobe for him, he could have asked The Huntsman because he didn't go to the moon conference, though Freakazoid didn't bother asking him for one reason or another.

    • Upon his appearance, Wakko sings a few lines of "Wakko's America."

    • Animation Services: Dong Yang Animation Co., Ltd, Koko Enteriprise Co., Ltd.

  • ALLUSIONS (2)

    • One of the guests that is in line to see Freakazoid resembles "The Mask", another crazy superhero.

    • The title of this episode is a parody of The Godfather, which is supported by this episode's title card. This episode also parodies the movie's concept of the Don honoring requests on the day of his daughter's wedding.
