– New series Bitten, which is based on the Women of the Otherworld novels by Kelley Armstrong, will premiere Monday, January 13 at 10pm. It stars Laura Vandervoort (SmallvilleV) as Elena Michaels, the only female werewolf in existence who abandons her pack and heads to a new city.

BUSINESS TIME

... What do HBO, Diablo Cody, and Oprah have in common? A new comedy project based on Dr. Julie Holland’s forthcoming book Moody Bitches. From what I can tell, this sounds like the autobiography of every girl I went to high school with. *badum-tssssh* Okay, okay. The series will explore "the truth about the drugs you're taking, the sex you're not having, the sleep you're missing, and what's really making you crazy." Cody will write the script and executive produce alongside Winfrey's Harpo Films. [THR]

... For everyone who's wondering why Jessica Lange is departing American Horror Story after Season 4, it's because she'd rather sit at home and watch TV like the rest of us. Okay, maybe not. But she wants to have more time to herself. And if she doesn't want to spend six months out of the year filming a TV series, she doesn't have to. Because she's Jessica Lange and she can do whatever the hell she wants. We need to accept this and move on. (Weekly support group meetings will be held Wednesdays at 10pm at the pub on the corner.) [EW]

... TBS is celebrating the holidays by serving up a hot plate of juicy Thanksgiving-themed Friends episodes. The 14-episode marathon kicks off Thursday, November 28, at 10am and will include all 10 Thanksgiving episodes, along with four others that may or may not include the words "we were on a break." [TBS via press release]

... In addition to greenlighting Instant Mom for a second season, Nickelodeon has also ordered six additional episodes for Season 1. Starring Tia Mowry-Hardrict as Stephanie, a party girl who settles down when she marries a husband with three kids, the series sounds like another version of Trophy Wife, no? It airs Sundays at 8:30pm on Nick at Nite. [Nickelodeon via press release]

... A German advertising agency is marketing The Walking Dead to female fans with electronic billboards that transform models into zombies. Advertising a "Good Night Cleansing Program," it looks legit. But as people approach, the ad transforms. Brilliant!

CASTING NEWS

... Noah Bean has been cast alongside his former Nikita co-star Aaron Stanford in Syfy's 12 Monkeys adaptation. Bean will play Aaron Marker, a political strategist whose relationship with Amanda Schull's Cassandra Railly is tested when Stanford's character returns to the present day from a postapocalyptic near future. Also joining the pilot is Željko Ivanek, who appeared in Damages with Bean. Ivanek will play Leland Frost, a venture capitalist and philanthropist who's really into biological research. [TV Line]

... Rachel Blanchard (Flight of the Conchords) has joined FX's Fargo adaptation in a recurring capacity. She'll play Kitty Nygaard, sister-in-law to Martin Freeman’s Lester Nygaard. [Deadline]

... Jack Davenport (Smash) will guest-star as an assistant U.S. attorney on The Good Wife. His episode will air in 2014. [EW]

... Leverage alum Beth Riesgraf has signed on to Complications, the new USA drama pilot from Burn Notice creator Matt Nix. Joining her are Jessica Szohr (Gossip Girl), Demetrius Grosse (Justified), and Lauren Stamile (Burn Notice). Riesgraf will play Samantha, the lawyer wife of Jason O'Mara's Dr. John Ellis, an ER doctor who becomes disillusioned after being involved in a gang shooting. Szohr is Gretchen, an ER nurse; Grosse is Dan Brennan, a fellow doctor and friend to Dr. Ellis; and Stamile is Bridget, another doctor who takes her frustrations out on her patients and colleagues. [THR]

... Marley Shelton will take on the lead role of Dr. Alison Scott in Lifetime’s drama pilot The Lottery. The project is set in a future where women stop having children, which threatens the end of the human race. Dr. Scott is a fertility specialist who's responsible for successfully fertilizing 100 eggs, and a lottery is held to decide who will serve as their surrogates, hence the series' name. [Deadline]

This cast for Fargo keeps getting better and better. Martin Freeman, Billy Bob, Glenn Howerton, the best psychopath on television at the moment, now Rachel Blanchard. LOVED watching her on the Clueless TV show back in the day. She was also a complete biznatch in Carrie 2. I'm all kinds of excited for this show now.

Bitten sounds good, and I like werewolves, but it's a shame they cast Laura Vandervoort... She is terrible IMO.

Helix sounds fun. Syfy usually have good shows. I will try out both of them.

12 monkeys & Fargo also sound good.

Since TWD it's turned into disease control madness for tv and movie land. Let's hope Helix is alright with Ronnie at the helm.
Bitten sounds on the dodge. A lone bitch werewolf who leaves her pack. whoah. What can go wrong? Love interest she resists biting etc. or gets bit and zzzzzzzzzzz. I found Vandervoort a bit flat (insert your own chest baps joke) in Smallville and only there for flying cleavage. So, pass.
Wow a Dr and Lawyer drama with 'quirky' Beth Riesgraf and O'Mara, who's turned out to be one of the cursed to doom a show tv actors. 3 ep's then paddles time?
Being Human I'll tune in for. Still has some good ep's - except for the annoying ghost who's name cannot be mentioned.
Perhaps Jessica Lange found another project which needed someone with a face like a spanked arse offering more money.

I'd say 4 seasons in AHS is more than enough - If i was Jessica Lange, I wouldn't do more neither.

Jack Davenport in TGW - Yes yes yes!!! He was such a hilarious a-hole in Smash (and in Pirates of the Caribbean!)

Also great news that Lost Girl is back... Is it weird that there are no news on Continuum (as both are Canadian shows on Syfy if I remember right)

Continuum isn't due to Premiere in Canada on Showcase until March, 2014. So I'm assuming SyFy will air it around that time, if not a bit later

Say what you will about zombies, but at least they're free of skin concerns.

Mondays are going to be crazy. In just January at eight I have HIMYM and Hart of Dixie at eight now with Lost Girl (seriously a show about a succubus should probably be on later if Bitten follows Elena's book story that gets very family oriented) then Sleepy Hollow Mom and Being Human at nine. Then The Blacklist Teen Wolf and Bitten at 10. I have to hope SyFy just reairs the full three hours starting at eleven and be glad I don't watch the Following.

Today's New Briefs has been delayed as Miss Thomas spent nearly half an hour playing "badum-tssssh" in her head to figure out it that is how you spell the sound.

So the weekly AHS meetings will not be held at Jessica Lange's house?

I thought Instant mom was a reality show.

Let Ms. Lange take a year off. Then she can return rested for season 5.

That TWD ad reminds me of the fake out Resident Evil trailers.

Also, as sad as I am that Lange is leaving, Bassett and Bates should be back and they are KILLING it this season.

What you meant to say is Helix stars Billy Campbell (The Rocketeer).

Good lord Siffy's schedule looks like a huge turd.

Face Off sure doesn't leave much time between seasons, not that I'm complaining. But this season ended just a couple weeks ago and now another is starting mid-January.

Lost Girl on showcase is better.
Laura Vandervoort has implants, no? I hate plastic surgery and refuse to watch shows where the leads have had any.

I left american horror story this season so I guess I won't really miss lange.

still plan on trying 12 monkeys.

will probably try fargo. is rachel blanchard hot?

I love Beth Riesgraf but apparently complications is both genres I will never watch in a legal and medical drama? house was an exception in the medical drama genre though 'cause hugh laurie as house.

Is Lost Girl unedited on Showcase? I stopped watching because I think SyFy does censor, as well as edit, it and I hate that Today, it's even more ridiculous now that cable channels can use the word s**t or bulls**t. They have Naked Vegas and they stupidly censor that now, so what's the point of airing it at all?

The implant thing bugs me too, I can understand it if on a premium channel with nudity, particularly for a period show where they did not exist, but since they are all primarily dressed on a regular network show, it seems extreme that you don't watch since it's mostly not that noticeable or you can just think they are supported by a push-up bra.

I believe Showcase produces it so I can't imagine they'd censor it. I don't think Canada does much of ANY censoring anymore except in choosing what to air. No silly overdubs anyway. BTW if you're not into downloading and can't wait for U.S. preview, you can stream it here http://www.showcase.ca/lostgirl

Thank you, but apparently not available for us in the US - Geographical restriction.

Crap. We get the same with U.S. networks. I particularly like the message you get when trying to access Jon Stewart or Colbert from Canada. "Sorry, but this video is unavailable in your location, probably due to your overly polite attitudes." After which I say "I'm sorry to bother you" and move on ...

The amount of "B/SHIT!" outbursts in Lost Girl has turned it into a DVR drinking game event for Friday nights here.
Not a fan of fake boobs either but have to agree with you on the clothed aspect - those poppers are staying un-popped! It would've meant missing Enterprise etc. No can do.
