Chandler was real rude in this episode. Lighting up in front of Monica? Not good.

    Classy reply.

Chandler showed a distinct lack of respect towards Monica in this episode, something we really hadn't seen before.

This is one of the best Friends episodes, and I often find myself mourning the fact that we didn't have so many episodes of a similar fashion to this one in the earlier seasons. Chandler and Monica may have been rude to each other, but that was kind of the whole point of the storyline. It was about time they had another arguement. We needed to see another side of their personality, and how they reacted to a situation such as the one they were in. It's called character development. The only thing in the episode that made me slightly cringe was Phoebe's random attraction to Monica, just like she got attracted to Monica's cousin TOW Ross and Monica's Cousin, but ofcourse, we've seen much worse than that from Phoebe.

But if we go to the important aspects of the episode. The classic Ross and Rachel storyline, along with Joey and Phoebe's great storyline, and then some ensemble scenes which, as Monica stated at the beginning of the episode, we'd been lacking throught the course of season 8. To be honest, this episode was preceeded by TOW The Sharks. If you can watch that well, this should be okay.

I do have to say though that of course after seeing this thread I have noticed Chandlers mean tendencies more. Ive been watching some of s5 lately and there have been some times like when he said to Monica "and youve flirted with every guy in the tri-state area" in TOW Ross Cant Flirt in a kind of annoying way, and then TOW In Vegas he got really annoying about her talking to Richard. I love Chandler, hes hilarious, but he does have this "cold-streak" in him sometimes.

What I found rude was that everyone but Joey put other things before the birthday dinner of one of their best friends.

I agree with this too. This might be one of the reasons I don't like this episode at all. I also find all the fighting and Rachel's inability to leave Emma with Judy annoying. It does have some funny moments in it (e.g. Ross speech about the eagle) but over all I think this is one of the weak episodes of the series. Anyway, I think Phoebe did right in deciding to leave when all of them had finally gotten there because they didn't seem to care a lot about her birthday. She might as well be with someone, who really does care.

    Well they had good excuses.

Chandler and Monica were.....making a baby

Ross and Rachel locked themselves out of the apartment with Emma inside so I don't find that rude at all.

What annoyed me so much that Phoebe ditched her best friends to be with her boyfriend

what i found annoying was the fight between monica and chandler .. and the whole make baby thing ..

i mean, considering that phoebe is waiting for them at the restaurant ..

they should have just put aside their fight, quickly do it and rush to the restaurant ..

and all four of them should have called first ..

I never really thought about it. I can understand why Phoebe would be mad at everyone for not calling. But Ross and rachel were locked out of their apartment.....fair enough. I honestly think Monica over reacted to Chandler smoking. I know smoking is bad, but i think she over reacted a bit. And Phoebe leaving to meet Mike, i didnt find annoying i found it funny. It was in a way, a great revenge on everyone for being late

I never thought about it that way but that is actually a very good point. I'm agreeing with you there.

It wasn't lack of respect. It was Chandler for once having balls to stand up to her woman.
