Joey prepares for an audition where he must play a 19-year-old. When trying to celebrate his engagement to Monica in a more personal way, Chandler encounters performance issues. Ross and Rachel realize that they've never had a "bonus night"--one last fling following their breakup. When they end up kissing in the hallway, Monica catches them and accuses Rachel of trying to steal her thunder.

    Monica and Rachel begin planning the wedding. Phoebe would like to give the newly-engaged Monica and Chandler some privacy, so moves in with Ross. Problems arise for Ross, however, when she also invites her massage clients. While napping in Rachel's bed because the duck threw up in his, Joey finds an erotic novel Rachel has been reading. He and Ross have fun teasing her about it. When Monica and Chandler learn that her parents have spent all of her "wedding fund", they debate whether or not to spend Chandler's life-savings on the wedding.

    While hiring a new assistant, Rachel is torn between a qualified woman and an attractive but inexperienced young man. When Monica and Chandler agree to be more open with one another, Chandler shares an embarrassing secret about Ross. When Ross finds out, the gloves come off. Joey has a chance to return to Days of Our Lives, but takes offence when he's asked to audition again. When his TV show, "Mac & C.H.E.E.S.E." is canceled after just one airing, he becomes a bit more flexible.

    While Monica and Chandler are having their picture taken for an engagement announcement, Chandler finds it impossible to smile without looking weird. Meanwhile, with the women in her office constantly hitting on her new assistant Tag, Rachel asks Joey to have a guy's night out with him. Unfortunately for Rachel, Joey discovers that Tag's the perfect partner for picking up women. Phoebe is seeing a guy who's in the middle of a divorce, and to her regret, asks Ross to distract his ex-wife. Before long, Ross and Phoebe are taking sides in the couple's dispute.

    Monica solves the problem of having to choose between Rachel and Phoebe to be her maid-of-honor by leaving it up to them. After watching Die Hard for the umpteenth time, Joey and Ross fall asleep on the sofa together. Problems arise when it turns out to be the best nap they ever had. Monica insists that Chandler apologize to an ex-girlfriend he dumped because she put on weight.

    Joey has spent the night with a girl and when leaving for work in the morning asks Rachel to give her the bad news that he's not interested in a serious relationship. Instead, Rachel and Phoebe end up bonding with her and try to convince Joey she's perfect for him. When Janice learns of Monica and Chandler's engagement, she more-or-less invites herself to the wedding. Now, Monica and Chandler have to find a way to tactfully un-invite her. Ross is proud to find his thesis in the library but gets upset when he discovers it is in a section so deserted, students go there to make out.

  • Ross drives himself insane when he can't name all 50 states in a simple game. Tag joins the gang for Thanksgiving dinner where Joey accidentally spills the beans about Rachel's crush on him. Phoebe sneaks a dog into the apartment, making Chandler extremely nervous.

    When Phoebe tells the gang she was too poor to have a bike as a child, Ross goes out and buys her one. Phoebe loves the bike but the gang soon discovers that she doesn't know how to ride it. Ross decides to teach her. Rachel writes a playful work evaluation of Tag that he accidentally turns in to human resources. Rachel fears for her job but Tag is able to cover by claiming that he wrote the review himself as a joke. Monica decides to make candy and leave it outside her door as a way to meet the neighbors. The candy is a huge hit and people start dropping by at all hours to get more. Eventually, Chandler convinces her that her efforts to buy the friendship of the neighbors isn't working: they love the candy but don't even know her name.

    Since his son Ben is half Jewish, Ross would like to teach him about Hanukkah. The young boy, however, can't get his mind off Christmas and Santa Claus. When the costume store is all out of Santa costumes, Ross settles for an armadillo costume and claims to be Santa's Jewish friend. Phoebe's apartment has been refurbished, but she fears that Rachel would rather keep living with Joey. In order to make Rachel want to leave, she buys Joey presents that will irritate her, like a noisy drum set. Chandler proves inept at getting a table for himself and Monica in a fancy restaurant. As it turns out, Rachel never wanted to stay with Joey, except that now Phoebe's remodeled apartment only has one bedroom. Chandler manages to find a Santa costume, which adds to the holiday confusion for Ben--especially when Joey shows up as Superman.

    Phoebe gets angry with Joey when he cancels their dinner plans for a date with another woman. The tables are turned, however, when Phoebe's scientist boyfriend David returns to town for one night--the same night as her rescheduled dinner with Joey. Monica is upset about not being invited to her cousin's wedding, especially when she finds out that Ross was invited "with guest". She convinces Ross to take her as his guest, only to find that her cousin had good reason to not invite her. Chandler accidentally gets a cheesecake delivered that was intended for another apartment. When he and Rachel start eating it, they become addicted--to the extent that they eat the delivered replacement cake as well.

    Ross assembles the gang on the roof to see a comet but they soon become bored and leave. After they've gone, thanks to Joey's stupidity, Ross and Joey find themselves locked out of the stairway. They elect to climb down the fire-escape. Rachel and Tag argue over which one of them forgot to send a package at work. Phoebe's smoke alarm defies all logic when it won't stop beeping. Chandler and Monica can't seem to fall asleep together, so they keep waking each other up.

    In an attempt to make up for her slow massage business, Phoebe takes a job as a telemarketer for an office supply company. When her first call is to a suicidal supply manager, she takes it upon herself to stop him from going through with it. Monica and Ross discover that their parents are selling their house. When they go to collect their stuff, they find that Mr. Geller used Monica's boxes to stop flood water from getting to his Porsche and all her things are ruined. To make amends, much to Ross's consternation, Mr. Geller gives Monica his prized Porsche. While attempting to re-arrange the furniture, Rachel breaks Joey's favorite chair, "Rosita". Rachel offers to replace it with a state-of-the-art recliner, but while she and Joey are out shopping, Chandler sits in Joey's chair and thinks that he broke it. He replaces the chair with his own identical Barcalounger which leads Joey to believe that Rosita was miraculously healed.

    When Rachel turns 30, the gang reminisces about their own 30th birthdays. While trying to patch things up with Ursula, Phoebe discovers that she is, in fact, 31. Ross buys a sports car to look young and cool but can't drive it because it's wedged between two other cars. Monica avoids facing her 30th birthday by getting drunk, which proves to be a problem when Chandler, her parents and their friends throw her a surprise birthday party. Rachel determines that given her age, she has to start working on it right away if she wants a traditional marriage and family, but realizes that Tag is not the one to do it with. Joey is in constant tears as they all grow older despite a deal he made with God.

    Monica and Chandler are horrified to discover that Ross is planning to play bagpipes at their wedding. The producers at Days of Our Lives are planning to bring back Drake Ramoray by transplanting into him the brain of soon-to-be-killed-off character Jessica Lockhart. Joey is the one who breaks the news to Cecilia Monroe, the star who plays her. A cute guy leaves his cell phone in Central Perk and Phoebe and Rachel fight over who gets to return it to him, thereby beginning a love story for the digital age.

    When Monica and Chandler have trouble picking a minister to marry them, Joey gets ordained through the Internet so he can officiate at their wedding. Phoebe is thrilled with the effectiveness of some pills Monica gave her for a headache until she reads about the possible side-effects. Rachel feels awkward babysitting Ben until she starts sharing a few pranks he's never heard of. While trying to personalize his speech for Monica and Chandler's wedding, Joey asks them to tell him about how they first got together in London. Phoebe spills the beans and we learn who Monica originally wanted to sleep with when she went to Chandler's hotel room that night.

    Monica picks out a gorgeous bridal gown at a fancy Manhattan dress shop but intends to actually buy it at a discount house in Brooklyn. She makes the mistake of telling another customer about the discount place and ends up fighting over the dress when they both show up for the sale. To Chandler's amusement, Ross and Joey end up dating the same woman, new to their neighborhood. When Ross and Joey become aware of it, they make a pact to fight fair by only spending $100 dollars each on the date. When Ross breaks the pact by also sending her flowers, Joey shows up at the restaurant where they're dining in order to affect a little payback.

    Joey is nominated for a Soapie Award and brings Rachel along as his date. When he doesn't win, he tries to get one by other means. One of Ross's male students convinces him that he failed his midterm because he's in love with his teacher--Ross. Ross gives him a break, but when a second male student makes the same admission, he gets suspicious. Monica thinks a guy in Central Perk is trying to hit on her, but to her embarrassment, it turns out he was interested in Phoebe. The experience leads Monica to realize that Chandler is the last man she will ever be with romantically.

    Joey auditions for a blockbuster period movie in which he is to play an Italian immigrant. He nails the audition, but then learns that the part requires full-frontal nudity. He ultimately agrees to it, but is then told that to get the part, he must be anatomically "not Jewish". Rachel and Phoebe plan Monica's wedding shower at the last minute and invite everyone in Monica's address book--except Monica. Ross and Monica's cousin comes to visit and can't help dazzling most everyone with her slow-motion hair-tossing.

    In Central Perk, Rachel bumps into Melissa, an old sorority sister. It comes out that they got a little drunk at a luau once and made out. Rachel is somewhat proud of herself, since it's one of her few claims to not being "vanilla", but Phoebe doesn't believe her. At dinner together, Melissa denies that it ever happened. Joey wants his parents at the wedding to see him officiate, which presents organizational problems for Monica. Rachel sets Chandler and Ross up with celebrity tuxes for the wedding, which leads to a competition between "James Bond" and "Batman" ending in total disillusionment.

    It is four weeks to their wedding, and as Monica and Chandler struggle to write their own wedding vows, we see clips from past episodes about the gradual evolution of their relationship. In the end, the girls secretly read Monica's and the guys secretly read Chandler's. As might be expected, Monica's elicit heartfelt tears and Chandler's, gales of laughter.

    Rachel asks Monica if she can drive the Porsche and Monica says no. It then comes out that everyone else gets to drive it, except Rachel, since she is a reckless driver. Monica talks Chandler into traveling to Vegas to invite his estranged, drag-queen father to their wedding. Joey notes that Phoebe's new boyfriend is fond of wearing her underwear. Phoebe convinces Joey that only a man, confident in his masculinity, would be comfortable doing such a thing. Joey sets out to prove his masculinity. Rachel steals the keys to Monica's Porsche from Ross's jacket and goes to take it for a spin. Ross, unable to stop her, goes along--much to his regret.

  • While Monica finalizes plans for their wedding, Ross has an "older brother" talk with Chandler. Joey gets a part in a major WWI epic with a prestigious actor, but has problems since the actor tends to spit on him when he enunciates. Chandler is proud of himself for not freaking out about the wedding until he hears a revised answering machine message in which Monica refers to herself and Chandler as "The Bings". The stress caused by his imminent marriage escalates at the rehearsal dinner until finally, he goes missing. Phoebe finds a positive pregnancy test in the trash and assumes that Monica is pregnant.

  • Ross and Phoebe search frantically for Chandler while Rachel tries to keep Monica occupied. When they find him, Ross manages to calm him down and convinces him to approach the ceremony one step at a time. Meanwhile, Joey is trying to finish up on the movie set so he can officiate at their wedding, but the star of the movie is drunk and keeps preventing them from finishing the scene. Chandler overhears Phoebe talking to Rachel about Monica's pregnancy. Without Joey, Rachel convinces a Greek Orthodox priest to perform the wedding, but Joey manages to arrive just in time and officiates, wearing a WWI uniform from the movie. Following a touching ceremony, Chandler tells Monica he knows about the baby, but it's news to her. As the season finale comes to a close, the camera is on Rachel and we realize that the pregnancy test was actually hers.
