Who was the Episode MVP ?

  • my way

    Loved it
  • Could it "be" any better?

For ten years Friends accompanied us. Am I sad that it is over? No. Will I miss it? Yes, of course.

Many successful TV series have the sad habit to stay longer on the air than absolutely necessary. It happened with the “Cosby Show”, and it is happening with “That 70’s show” now. You just have to know, when to walk away and let go.

I was worried that Friends might end up like Seinfeld, who produced one of the worst series final in television history, or would break the 3rd wall like they did on “Fresh Prince of Bel Air”. But instead the writers pulled of a really exciting and – yes, even if it’s sound lame – good episode, by given the fans what they really wanted.

Watching “The Last One” I honestly have to say that this episode was the perfect ending to a perfect sitcom. Sure it was not the funniest episode, but it did what it was supposed to do: give the audience a satisfactory conclusion.

  • Super cool

    Funny cool
  • A great show found its perfect ending.

It seems like only yesterday when we watched Monica, Phoebe, Chandler, Joey and Ross sitting and chatting in Central Perk when Rachel rushed through the door in her wedding dress. 10 years later, it's still those six people. Still in New York. Still there for each other every single day. Still best friends.

The Last One is the perfect finale for the show. Monica and Chandler finally having their babies. Phoebe finally being with the man she loves. Joey...well, he's still Joey. But he'll find his way in his spin-off. And Ross and Rachel finally together again, after all this time.

This episode made me cry. Not only because it's the last one. But also because it's more we could've ever hoped and asked for. After watching all 10 seasons of the show, I'm convinced this is the way it was supposed to end.moreless
  • Amazing finale.

You knwow sometimes, when a TV finale comes on, and when it ends, your like "That was such a bad way to end the show" Well, this finale did not end bluntly. It tied all loose ends in my opinion, it was a perfect way to end this wonderful series. I shed a tear,w ehn everyone walked out of the apartment. And I cringed when Rachel ended up going on the plane saying sorry to Ross. When she got off the plane, I jumped for joy! And then she kissed Ross. There finally together after almost 7 years of being on a break. Joey gets Chick & Duck Jr. Monica & Chandler take care of the babies. The gang returns their keys, and cuts to finish. Perfect!moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (22)

    • Trivia: Throughout the series, the most accident-prone of all the "Friends" proved to be Ross and Rachel. Except for Joey's arm-in-a-sling period (to cover up a real injury to Matt LeBlanc) the others don't seem to get injured the way Ross and Rachel do. Ross, for example, got his nose broken from an errant hockey puck, banged his head on a laundromat dryer door, fell into an open grave and injured his back, burned his hands on five separate occasions, caught his fingers in a folding stroller, got beaten up mercilessly while playing Rugby, got kicked in the head when Rachel was giving birth, and broke his thumb while trying to punch Joey, and afterwards, got punched by Joey--twice!. Then there's Rachel, who fell down and cut her head when meeting Ross at the airport, got a fat lip on two separate occasions, once from a woman at the airport and once while doing a cheer-leading routine to impress Joshua, had her rib cracked when Monica fell on her wearing roller skates and sprained her ankle falling from the balcony while taking down Christmas lights. Both of them were limping by the end of "The One Where the Monkey Gets Away" from kicking a metal sign post. In short, Ross and Rachel were definitely made for each other.

    • Trivia: Rachel's bra size is 32C.

    • Goof: When chasing Rachel to the airport in Phoebe's cab, Ross tries to toss a coin into the toll bucket and it bounces off the window. However Phoebe begins to drive forward, even though they never actually paid the toll.

    • Trivia: It is revealed that at one time or another all of the friends have lived in Monica's Grandmother's apartment. The same is also true of Joey's apartment.

    • Trivia: All of the children born on this show (excluding the triplets) are related. Jack and Erika (Chandler and Monica's children) are brother and sister, as are their cousins Ben and Emma. Possibly due to the fact that Ben and Emma have a different mother, they are never seen together at any time throughout the series.

    • Continuity: In this episode, Joey and Chandler are unable to get Chick Jr. and Duck Jr. out of the foosball table because it is all glued together. However, in "The One With The Embryos," when they are moving their stuff into Monica and Rachel's apartment, Chandler moves the top part of the Foosball table separately.

    • Goof: When the doctor offers Monica and Chandler the chance to cut their first child's umbilical cord, the navel of the (actor) baby can be seen briefly on screen, revealing that there isn't even a fake umbilical cord.

    • Goof: When Rachel attempts to board the plane the first time, the man at the desk looks at her passport upside down.

    • Goof: When Rachel hands over her passport before she gets on the plane to Paris, the picture is clearly of a woman with very dark hair. Since Rachel has never had hair that dark throughout the series and you must renew your passport every 10 years in the United States, this clearly isn't a picture of her.

    • Trivia: The color of the keys laid down at the end of the episode by each friend corresponds to the colored dots between the letters in the Friends title (red, yellow, and blue).

    • Trivia: In this episode Phoebe asked Ross if he had ever chased someone to the airport. Actually, in "The One with the Free Porn" Ross chased Emily to the airport.

    • Continuity: Every time there has been a birth among the friends the entire group was at the hospital waiting. This is seen in "The One with the Birth" with Carol giving birth to Ross's son Ben; Also, in "The One Hundredth" with Phoebe giving birth to her brother's triplets; And in "The One Where Rachel Has a Baby" with Rachel giving birth to Ross's daughter Emma. Now when Monica and Chandler, two of the Friends, are finally having the babies they have been waiting for, not one of their friends even visit.

    • Continuity: In this episode Joey didn't know that when Chandler took Chick and Duck to a farm, it meant they died. But in "The One with the Thumb" he knows that when you take a pet to farm, it means that it has been "put to sleep".

    • Continuity: In "The One Where Rachel Has a Baby (2)" Monica said she wanted to name her first son Daniel. Also, in "The One with the Blind Dates" Monica and Chandler promise to name their first born son Joey. Instead they name him Jack, after Monica's father.

    • Magna Doodle: A drawing of mountain climbers

    • Goof: At the end of the episode, the friends all lay their apartment keys on the counter. When the camera angle changes, the position of the keys on the kitchen counter changes, although no one moved them.

    • Trivia: Chandler says the final phrase of the show. When the friends decide to get coffee, he ironically says "Where?". Chandler also says the final sentence in the Pilot episode.

    • Factual Error: The jet bridge on Rachel's plane is on the right side. However, jet bridges attach to the left side of the plane, since the forward galley would be on the right side, and passengers would not be boarded through the galley.

    • Continuity: In "The One with Rachel's Going Away Party" Phoebe said that in six months, the statute of limitations would run out and she would be allowed to fly internationally again. If this is true, how would Phoebe have been able to purchase a ticket? Her name would have popped up on a "No Flying" list. (However, it is not revealed to what destination Ross buys tickets for him and Phoebe, so it's possible it was within U.S. borders. In fact it was more than likely since Ross asked for the cheapest tickets available.)

    • Goof: After Rachel gets on the plane, when Ross and Phoebe are hugging, the camera zooms out and the end of the set on the floor is visible.

    • Goof: If Rachel was all packed up, then why is Emma's "E" still hanging on the wall in Rachel's room?

    • Trivia: By the end of the show, all six of the friends have been married at one time or another except for Joey.

  • QUOTES (17)

    • Ross: Don't go.
      Rachel: What?
Ross: Please, please stay with me. I am so in love with you. Please, don't go.
      Rachel: Oh, my God.
Ross: I know, I know. I shouldn't have waited 'till now to say it, but I'm... That was stupid, okay? I'm sorry, but I'm telling you now. I love you. Do not get on this plane.
Gate Attendant: Miss? Are you boarding the plane?
Ross: (Holding back Rachel) Hey, hey. I know you love me. I know you do.
      Gate Attendant: Miss?
Rachel: I, I have to get on the plane.
      Ross: No, you don't.
      Rachel: Yes, I do.
      Ross: No, you don't.
Rachel: They're waiting for me, Ross. I can't do this right now, I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
      (She boards the plane.)

    • Phoebe: Hey, do you realize that at one time or another we all lived in this apartment?
      Monica: Oh, yeah, that's true.
      Ross: Uh, I haven't.
Monica: Wait a minute. What about that summer during college that you lived with grandma, and you tried to make it as a dancer?
Ross: Do you realise we almost made it ten years without that coming up?

    • Joey: I'm gonna miss these little guys. It was nice having birds around again.
Chandler: Hey, you know what? Maybe we should keep them here with you.
      Joey: What?
Chandler: Yeah, I mean we've got a lot going on right now. And, plus, here they'd have their own room.
Joey: I could get a goose!
Chandler: You know, I think you're set with the poultry.
Joey: Thanks man. Did you hear that, you guys? You're gonna get to stay here! (Looking back to Chandler) And, and it's good, you know, 'cause now you have a reason to come visit.
Chandler: I think there may be another reason.

    • Ross: (To the ticket agent) I need a ticket.
Phoebe: Just one? I drive you all the way down here, and I don't get to see how it works out?
Ross: Fine, two tickets, I need two tickets.
      Phoebe: We're on our honeymoon.
      Ticket Agent: And the destination?
Ross: I don't care. Whatever is the cheapest.
Phoebe: I'm so lucky I married you.

    • Ross: (Hitting buttons on the answering machine) Did she get off the plane? Did she get off the plane?
Rachel: I got off the plane.
(Ross looks at Rachel standing in the doorway)
Ross: You got off the plane.
      (Ross and Rachel kiss)

    • Gunther: I... I know you're leaving tonight, but I just have to tell you. I love you. I... I don't know if that changes your plans at all, but I thought you should know.
Rachel: Gunther. Oh. I love you too. Probably not in the same way, but I do. And when I'm in a cafe having coffee or I see a man with hair brighter than the sun, I'll think of you.

    • Ross: (To Phoebe, about Rachel) You're right. I should at least tell her how I feel.
      Joey: Ross, wait, wait.
      Ross: What? What?
Joey: Could you get me a muffin?

    • Chandler: What do we do?
Monica: What do you mean, "what do we do?"
      Chandler: Twins! Twins!
      Monica: Chandler, you're panicking.
Chandler: Uh-huh. Join me, won't you?!

    • Monica Wait, did you know it was twins?
Doctor: Yeah, it's here in the paperwork we got from the clinic in Ohio.
Monica: (To Erica) Did anybody tell you?
Erica: I don't think so. Although, they did mention something about two heartbeats. But I thought that was just mine and the baby's. They kept saying both heartbeats are really strong, and I thought "Well, that's good 'cause I'm having a baby."

    • Chandler: So do you have any plans for the summer?
Erica: I don't know, maybe Church Camp.
Chandler: Hah. May not wanna mention this. So, you ever wonder which is worse, you know, going through labor or getting kicked in the nuts?

    • Erica: (To Chandler, about labor) I think it's time to kick you in the nuts and see which is worse!

    • Rachel: (Crying) Do you guys have to go to the new house right away, or do you have some time?
      Monica: We got some time.
Rachel: Okay, should we get some coffee?
      Chandler: Sure. Where?

    • Rachel: I do love you.
Ross: I love you too, and I'm never letting you go again.
Rachel: Okay. 'Cause this is where I wanna be, okay? No more messing around. I don't wanna mess this up again.
Ross: Me neither, okay? We are, we're done being stupid.
Rachel: Okay. You and me, all right? This is it.
Ross: This is it. Unless we're on a break. (Rachel gives him a look) Don't make jokes now.

    • Monica: ...And that's a girl.
      Chandler: Her name is Erica.
Joey: Hey that pregnant girl's name was Erica.
Chandler: It's a shame you two didn't get to spend more time together.

    • Phoebe: You can open your eyes now.
Ross: Are we off the bridge?
      Phoebe: Yes.
Ross: Is the old woman on the bicycle still alive?
Phoebe: Yes, she jumped right back up. (He opens his eyes)
Ross: Oh my God, Phoebe, slow down!
Phoebe: Do you wanna get to Rachel in time?
Ross: Yes, but I don't wanna die in your cab!
Phoebe: You should have thought of that before you got in!

    • Chandler: (To the babies) So look around, you guys. This was your first home. And it was a happy place. Full of love, and laughter. But more important, because of rent control, it was a friggin' steal!

    • Rachel: I remember I was in seat 32C... (Whispers) because that's my bra size.
Gate Attendant: Sorry Ma'am, you need a ticket.
Rachel: Okay fine! But if I was in seat 36D, we wouldn't be having this conversation!

  • NOTES (21)

    • Mike: (About babies) I want one
Phoebe: Oh yeah? Tell me which one. I'll try slip it in my coat.
Mike: Seriously, I mean, wanna make one of those?
Phoebe: One? How about a whole bunch!
      Mike: Really?
Phoebe: Yeah, we can teach them to sing and we could be like the von Trapp family! Only without the Nazis. Although that sounds kind of dull.

Phoebe is referring to the Academy-Award winning musical The Sound of Music. In the musical, the von Trapp family, led by their governess, learn to make beautiful music together during the Nazi reign of World War II. The movie stars Julie Andrews with music by Rodgers & Hammerstein.
