Episode Summary

Although the Thanksgiving meal is great, Chandler is still moody over his parent's divorce during the holiday when he was a boy and Ross is depressed about his second divorce. The group reminisces about their worst Thanksgivings in order to cheer them up, and Monica's worst memory is revealed.

Who was the Episode MVP ?

  • I really love this episode.

Well I guess the writers decided to go on a new leaf with Thanksgiving episodes. I like how this episode seemed to give a lot of trivia and mostly a filler in ways but ended up being a fight between Monica & Chandler, and then Chandler says "I love you" to Monica. Maybe his first "I love you" ever. I like how all the actors got to dress up in different costumes. I'm sure it was fun for them. The flashback that I liked the most is when Monica was fat. We learn in this episode that Chandler has half a toe due to Monica's clumsiness. hilarious great episode.moreless
  • Another brilliant episode in which we see flashbacks of the group's worst thanksgivings. Where Chandler's parents split up, Monica is called fat, Chandler loses his toe, Joey gets his head stuck inside a chicken and Pheobe revisits her past lives.moreless

This is a great episode to watch, with clips from various thanksgiving dinners. It is one of the best flashback epidodes of Friends and shows Monica in her Chubby days, Rachel with her pointy nose and Chandler and Ross in their 80's outfits. It shows just what the gang were like before 1994. Although we do not see much of their current thanksgiving, this is still a great episode to watch. We also see Chandler's parents breaking up in part of the flahbacks. This is one of my favourite episodes and is great entertainment, it will get you in the mood for any holiday and is bound to cheer you up.moreless
  • The Friends All Think About The Worst Thanksgiving They Had, And Monica's Worst Memory Is Revealed!

All The Friends Remeber The Worst Thanksgivings They Had, Monica Reveals Her Worst Memory To The Shock Of Chandler, He Finally Finds Out Why He Lost His Toe! But It Was His Fault..He Called Monica Fat! Then Monica Was Trying To Seduce Him, But Ended Up (Accidentally) Cutting His Toe Off With A Knife.

    "Sir-Limps-A-Lot" Haha..That Was Funny! :)

Then Monica Was Trying To Cheer Chandler Up By Wearing A Turkey With A Fez And Sunglasses On Her Head! Joey Panicked When He Saw This Though And Ran Out Screaming!

This Episode Always Makes Me Laugh, It's Just Laugh Out Loud Funny! I Love Friends!moreless
  • The six friends look back on past thanksgivings. Rachel suggests to hear Monica's worst thanksgiving, which involves Chandler getting hurt!

This episode was hilarious the first time i saw it on TV and i still find it hilarious every time i watch it. When the knife was falling and the psycho theme played i just couldn't stop laughing. also Phoebe and Joey's thanksgivings were funny: joey getting a turkey stuck on his head and Phoebe's "imaginary thanksgiving" in the war. This episode would have been even better if it showed one of Ross' and Rachel's thanksgivings. When Monica came onto the screen when she was fat in the flashback it was so funny, she looked so different than she normally looks.moreless

A great episode, with a really interessting storyline and a good and funny cast. And like all episodes it has it's great wave in the storyline and a good cliff hanger at the end. Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (13)

    • Goof: At the beginning of the episode, everyone is groaning from having eaten a huge Thanksgiving dinner, but at the end of the episode, Monica still has an overly-large, thawed-out, unroasted turkey to put on her head.

    • Continuity: In this episode we see Chandler as a child finding out his parents are getting a divorce. On his plate is some turkey and vegetables and all the other thanksgiving food, but in "The One Where Underdog Gets Away" we learned that Chandler was eating dessert and had a bite of pumpkin pie in his mouth when his parents told him they were getting divorced.

    • Goof: When Monica drops the knife that severs Chandler's toe, the camera angle changes to look up and someone's shadow moves across the ceiling.

    • Continuity: In the flashback where Joey gets the turkey stuck on his head, you can see the white-and-black tiled bathroom floor. The floor should be all white since Joey didn't put in the new tiling until "The One with Frank Jr.".

    • Goof: In the opening scene when Phoebe is trying to turn on the TV, the TV remote is laying on the table at an angle. When the shot changes it is laying straight, and then it is at an angle again.

    • Magna Doodle: Bye (with a drawing of the number 327 inside a heart with wings)

    • Goof: In the 1862 Thanksgiving, when Phoebe loses her arm it's obviously a fake and the strings can be seen when it blows up.

    • Goof: When Monica accidentally throws the knife in the air, you can see as it is flying through the air it has no tip on it, but when we see it heading for Chandler's toe, it has a point.

    • Goof: At the end of the episode where Monica is dancing with the turkey on her head, she places the fez on the top of the turkey and the glasses over the turkey's arms. When the camera angle changes, the fez jumps to a pinned-on position tilted back and the glasses are under the arms.

    • Trivia: When Ross says "Severed toe, you just said it!" to the EMTs that roll Chandler through the ER door, the EMT that Ross says it to is played by Douglas Looper who played the husband of the wheelchair-bound woman who has very mild contractions in "The One Where Rachel has a Baby (1)". He was also in "The One Where Chandler Can't Cry" as the vampire in the porn video with Ursula (Buffay The Vampire Layer). Looper also played a fireman in "The One with Ross's Thing".

    • Continuity: In this episode, we see that Joey was an established friend and roommate since Thanksgiving 1992. Yet in "The One with the Flashback", it showed that Joey was just moving in and getting to know everyone in 1993.

    • Goof: When Chandler is in the hospital, the doctor's gloves keep disappearing and reappearing.

    • Continuity: Chandler and Rachel met several times at the Geller's house during Thanksgiving breaks while Chandler was in college and Rachel was in high school. But in "The One with the Flashback" they have absolutely no idea who the other one is when they see each other for the first time at a bar. Not to mention that they didn't know each other in "The One Where Monica gets a Roommate".

  • QUOTES (10)

    • Joey: I am thankful for this beautiful fall we've been having. Yeah, the other day I was at the bus stop and this lovely fall breeze came in out of nowhere and blew this chick's skirt right up. Oh, which reminds me. I am also thankful for thongs.

    • Ross: Huh, I don't know what to pick. Am I more thankful for my divorce or my eviction? Hmm...
Phoebe: Wow! See, and I didn't think you'd be able to come up with anything.
Ross: I'm sorry. It's just that this is the worst Thanksgiving ever.
Chandler: No no no! I am the king of bad Thanksgivings. You can't just swoop in here with your bad marriage and take that away from me!

    • Rachel: You're not going to tell the whole story about how your parents got divorced again, are you?
Joey: Oh come on, I want to hear it! It wouldn't be Thanksgiving without Chandler bumming us out!

    • Monica: (coming into the apartment) Hey, did you get the turkey baste-- (sees the turkey on Joey's head) Oh, my God, oh my God! Who is that?
      Joey: It's Joey!
Monica: What are you doing? Is that supposed to be funny?
Phoebe: No, it's not supposed to be funny, it's supposed to be scary.
Monica: Well get it off, now!
      Joey: I can't, it's stuck!
Monica: I don't care! That turkey has to feed twenty people at my parents' house and they're not going to eat it off your head!

    • Monica: (about the turkey on Joey's head) Okay, Phoebe, you pull, I'm gonna spread the legs as wide as I can. (Joey laughs) Joey, now is not the time!

    • Rachel: From now on, I'm gonna start dating men.
Ross: Sorry, Judy, I couldn't find the plate you and Jack are looking for!
Monica: Call them Mom and Dad, you loser.
      Ross: Monica!

    • Judy: Oh, Monica, would you finish off these pies? There's no more room in the refrigerator.
      Monica: No thank you!
Jack: Well Judy, you did it. She's finally full!

    • Chandler: I am so sorry for calling you fat! I really am! But hey, I was an idiot back then! I rushed the stage at a Wham! concert for crying out loud!
Phoebe: I can't believe you called her fat.
Ross: I can't believe you let George Michael slap you!

    • Chandler: My toe, I need my toe!
      Monica: I'm so sorry!
Chandler: Well sorry doesn't bring back the little piggy who cried all the way home!

    • Chandler: You are so great! I love you!
      Monica: What?
Chandler: Nothing! I said, I said "You're so great!" and then I just, I just stopped talking!
Monica: You said you loved me! I can't believe this!
      Chandler: No, I didn't!
      Monica: Yes, you did!
      Chandler: No, I didn't!
      Monica: You love me!
Chandler: No, I don't! Stop it! Stop it! Stop it! Stop it!
