Episode Summary

Joey prepares for an interview with Soap Opera Digest, although he's afraid of appearing stupid, so he enlists his friends to make sure things go well. During the interview, he reminisces about his past acting experiences, what he does in his spare time, eating and exercising right, his friends, his homosexual tendencies, and his romantic life.moreless

Who was the Episode MVP ?

  • One of the better "clip" shows.

Usually, I don't care much for clip shows at all. The one in season 6 was absolutely awful. The only tolerable clip show I can remember was the first one from season four that focused on Ross & Rachel's relationship. "TOW Vows" seemed like it was repeating things we JUST saw. However, this clip show was different. It focused on a soap opera interview, and the group tries to help Joey not say something stupid. The current thing that was going on was way more eventful, and most importantly, it was funny. Sure the clips focused on Joey, but this was different from TOW Mac and Cheese from season six that was awful. I felt like this was the writers chance at a redo. And they did a really good job of that. It focused on Joey's friendships, romantic interests, common stupidity. I think this episode was so great because to be honest, Joey is one of the funnier ones of the group, so looking back, it's one funny ride!moreless
  • Just sit back as we reflect over the last 8 years.

Another hilarious flashback Friends episode hits the screen as Joey gets interviewed for Soap Opra Digest.

Joey asks his Friends to stand by while he is doing his interview so that he doesn't fall into the trap like he did last time - getting thrown down an elevator shaft was probably not the best step in his career.

We re-watch some of the most classic clips from Friends that can't help but put a smile on your face.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • Goof: When Phoebe asks Rachel if she wants anything, Rachel says that she wants a chamomile tea and a blueberry muffin. However, she was listening to Joey when he said that he wanted all of the muffins.

  • QUOTES (9)

    • Monica: (about Joey's name being an answer on a crossword puzzle) This is so cool!
We know "3 Down". (touches Joey's arm) I'm touching "3 Down".
      Joey: Yeah you are, baby.
Monica: "3 Down" knows I'm married. What's "3 Down" doing?

    • Rachel: Come on Joey, you will totally keep it in check this time. And plus, you know, the publicity would be really good for your career... and you deserve that. And if you do the interview, you could mention--oh, I don't know--"gal pal Rachel Green"?
Chandler: Is that "gal pal" spelled L-O-S-E-R?

    • Joey: You guys have to be at the next table so you can stop me if I, you know, start to say something stupid.
Ross: Just then, or all the time? Because we have jobs, you know?

    • Phoebe: I'm gonna get some coffee, anyone want anything?
Rachel: Oh yeah, I'd actually love a blueberry muffin and a chamomile tea.
Ross: Uh, double latte, extra foam.
Chandler: And a bagel with only--
Phoebe: I was just being polite!

    • Monica: (out of the side of her mouth) Do we look weird?
Chandler: (out of the side of his mouth) No. We just look like four people with neck problems... who talk like this.

    • Joey: In my spare time, I read to the blind. And I'm also a mento, for kids.
      Interviewer: A
      Joey: You know, a mento. A role-model.
Interviewer: A Mento. Like the candy?
Joey: As a matter of fact, I do.

    • Phoebe: I just think that you don't expect someone so hot to be so sweet.
Interviewer: Oh, I like that. What's your name?
      Phoebe: Um, Phoebe Buffay.
Interviewer: How do you spell that so we can get it right?
Phoebe: Oh, okay. It's "P" as in "Phoebe", "H" as in "Hoebe", "O" as in "Obe", "E" as in "Ebe", "B" as in "Bebe" and "E" as in... "'Ello there, mate!"

    • Interviewer: How does it feel to have a huge gay fan base?
Joey: Really? Wow. I don't even know any huge gay people.
Chandler: It hurts me. It physically hurts me.

    • Interviewer: One last question. Other than Days of Our Lives, what other soap operas do you watch?
Joey: Oh I don't watch soap operas. I mean excuse me, I have a life you know.
Interviewer: Thank you. I'm sure the readers of Soap Opera Digest will be very interested to hear that.
